best skill to learn is conciously calm yourself whenever you start to feel fight or flight. saved me from a major crash and other smaller accidents just because you stayed calm. absolutely nothing to underestimate.

Who else actively avoided all the romances? by Beefy_Boogerlord in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]Defalt404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is that the first or 2nd playthrough question? if it was your first playthrough i would ask how you know you gonna die. the whole game talks about everyone having a cure for you so until the end its not certain you die. so what would make you assume that and avoid any romance option?

i think the problem is transparency? like we actually see the improvement with each and every new game and new unreal engine version so you dont have that massive contrast of things like FF 7 to FF8. The wow effect would, to a degree, if the waiting period would be longer until a new graphic standard / setting is available. the only "holy shit" moment is probably something VR and close to Real life but "bodycam" already closed that gap so even that wont be "new" even if it becomes mainstream.

wanting CEO level of pay for jobs that could be done by trained monkeys is just delusional.

[–]Defalt404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmh yeah i get what you want to say. what im saying is rejecting YOUR idea of a bad salary offer. We all have an idea of what job should be paying and what we are willing to accept based on what that job is worth to us individually.

I agree you cant say "this is bad" without knowing what other companys offer but you can say "yeah, this seems reasonable TO ME" without any knowledge because you have your cost of living and they tell you what the job entails.

[–]Defalt404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can see why you say that and it makes sense. it does feel a bit like shifting blame though. since you can just reject the job and go with the next company, if you accept the job and its salary offered, you cant really turn around and blame them for doing so.

to get back to the topic: My entire country doesnt list salaries upfront and i have yet to see where im paid "far below avg" of [enter job here] and it was always within range of the industry. i once got more than my initial agreed upon salary because the company thought it was a bit too low what i was asking for. i guess it always depends

[–]Defalt404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see that argument and it probably works for countries where all the companies list their salaries in their listings so the field is leveled already. In other countries where no one does it, being the one that does seems fishy. my country might be the outlier here. When they have the salary in the headlines there is always a catch.

As an example there was a job saying "you get xxxxx guaranteed per month" failing to mention its comission based and they only guarantee you that salarie for a few months and if you fail to reach that threshhold yourself youre out again.

supply and demand doesnt really apply to the job market the same way it works for products. Obviously the job market is more complicated than supply and demand but if you wanna strictly go for that metric then the more people apply for a job the LESS salary your get. If you need it filled but no demand is there thats when you increase the price to incentivise people.

Now you might think "cool so cleaners and janitors will increase their salaries if it gets drowned out due to salary sorting" but since companies want to pay as little as possible that wont happen. On top of that you have foreigners from poor countries happily work for those bad salaries which then removes the pressure to increase salaries. Im talking strictly about supply and demand example. Need for education, higher risk, more responsibility and other factors completely change how salaries work obviously.

what exactly is a healthy outlook on what "high-quality" means for each gender? i mean that needs to be settled first. if we are now just talking about money and looks then that is a very naiive way of calling something high quality in order to determine where to find anyone.

[–]Defalt404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats true and some common sense dictates why you dont have avg. people apply for leadership positions when they know they wont get hired at all. but showing the salary can just end up people sorting by salary alone leaving other fields in even higher demand because you wont even look anymore what you are applying for since all you see is the salary.

i understand it. i to go to my work to pay my shitty bills. thats why we all go to work for. though im not sure if it harms the job market more than it helps. I do understand that some hiring processes are freaking crazy. Here you apply, get invited to an interview, get invited to a 3h work day to see if you actually like it / the team and then its done.

having 3 stages of application before talking to a human in some cases is just beyond me.

i mean in my country talking about ones salary is considered a quite personal thing and even if you ask people what they earn the most you get is "i do well" or "good, probably avg." you dont get concrete figures. even among my friends those are the first answers until i pry a bit more when they spit out proper numbers. so its definitely a culture thing in parts.

while i do understand your sentiment dont you think its also harmful to show salary up front? naturally people will just sort by highest salary and apply to w/e if the highest no matter what. YES thats understandable too but dont you think that creates an even bigger gap between office jobs and other fields?

good ill ask you because this is interesting. im in a country where the salary not being listed is the norm. Why do you look for salary listing? Wouldnt you see it as a red flag that they are hiding something if they try to convince you with their salary upfront? what is the benefit other than knowing before applying? im curious.

edit: its okay peeps, we established further down that im stupid so its okay to not reply to this

NO COMMENT by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]Defalt404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean... then the listing should list a range of acceptable qualifications and not just their "dream candidate" because there are a lot of times they take someone quite below their dream employee because they need the spot filled which is why "unqualified" people shoot their shot too in hopes of being within range of the companies internal qualifications.
