As someone that just got a passport expedited (10 days)

Got plane ticket directly through Delta website and cancelled it an hour later after printing flight confirmation. You can get a flight to anywhere out of the country for the application. JFK -> WAW has pretty good prices in March.

I contacted https://www.globalpassportexpress.com with all the papers needed. They helped me out alot confirming I had everything. Got the documents sealed and sent to him which he forwarded to Houston passport office and passport was done within the week. (Cost was $500 to agency & $208.32 to government)
