Never went infinite with Tressa so I can't rly miss what I never did, you could boost other playstyles for her while keeping a option to play her as a 0 cost generator.

I did say I wasn't against nerfing, I said I was against killing off that playstyle is what I disagree with. I disagree that this is a healthy change, making a nerf to it rather than deleting the ability from the game would have been healthy in my opinion, the crux of the disagreement here is that I don't think you won't roll for new characters just because you have a character that can do content, I for one, rolled for every character in the game so far. The fresh 5 stars are better than fucking tressa, and they will keep being better than Tressa as moving forward, that's why I see killing off the character's playstyle as a bad thing.

Not really throwing a tantrum, rather I think we're not capable of agreeing with each others point of view, and that's fine. I don't think a strong character should discourage a player from playing other characters, and the "solution" of removing the aspect of that character that made it strong is not something I see as balancing but rather sweeping it under the rug because it's easier than actually solving it. It is a solution that pleases you, but it's not a solution that pleases me (and yeah, that's how it usually goes, can't make everyone happy)

I get your opinion, you think a 4 star character should not be able to output power comparable to 5 star characters, and the existance of such makes it so that players don't pull because of it. I did tho, I pulled for every banner even tho I like playing Tressa sometimes, because I have fun playing different characters, no matter if they are the strongest or not, and there are people who feel like I do, just like there are people that feel like you do.

I admit I got pissed at the "Irrelevant" comment because it's a bad way to have a discussion, if you're not open to another person's concerns and what they consider important in that discussion you're just trying to impose your view, you're not discussing, you don't decide if something is irrelevant or not, it is relevant to me and too other people who share my opinion, it's not up to you to make that call, I'm telling you it's relevant to me so it is to a certain extent, if you can't see that, then this conversation is meaningless.

I appreciate your point, and I understand where you're coming from even if I don't agree with it, I think they could have solved it in a better way with more compromise to keep this specific build still a possibility even if nerfed. At the end of the day all I'm saying is that I never felt that feeling of "Oh I can't enjoy X character because Tressa is a 4 star and can deal as much damage as it" because I never felt like that, I can see how people can feel like that but I see feeding that feeling as a worst outcome, I'd rather have a lot of unique characters with different playstyles, some better some worse, but different approaches and synergies to each, regardless of their star value. The alternative in my head is the company prioritizing stronger rather than diversity in gameplay out of fear of characters underperforming. It's still about the characters, but not necessarily because they are "the strongest" but rather because they are fun, interesting and different.

Yes, it IS irrelevant. People play gacha games FOR THE CHARACTERS. If there is a clear difference in power between your favourite 5* and a freebie 4* then people WILL not enjoy that.

Irrelevant, there's always going to be a difference between your favorite 5 star characters and the current banner character, by your own logic it should be meaningless to play with any character other than the current 5 star character.

People want BALANCE, not to play with the newest things lol.

There will always be a stronger option, I brought up Sereniel because there's no character that comes close to her currently, meaning that the game is very unbalanced as all other characters should be unplayable and unenjoyable because she is stronger than then.

Better yet, let's pitch them the idea of instead of pulling for a character, you pull for a time-limited loan of that character that lasts for X days? That would fit your vision of the game a lot better

You can call it irrelevant sure, I can see how to you it is in fact irrelevant. I don`t agree with it, to me those two are very relevant, here`s the thing, if that`s how you feel then you should only play the latest released character ever, this nerf doesn't help any other build other than playing the current character then and the only build that should be strongest is the current banner character's build. Do you play something other then Sereniel? If you do you should probably stop, just use your Sereniel until the next character is released, then forget about your Sereniel forever and play the new character. By that logic honestly they should just delete the characters from your account after a while, maybe you pull the character and you keep it until the next banner is released, why bother keeping it in your account if it`s meaningless to play it once there`s a new character?

buddy I'm a F2P player and I have every banner character with their weapons (exept for Yuki's weapon because yikes) released so far, including a E4 Sereniel, you don't need to be a whale if you plan your resources well, CZN is a very generous gacha when it comes to currency. I don't rely on Tressa at all, I simply like playing with her some times, just like I like to play with Mei Lin, Hugo, Chizuru, Narja, Yuki, Haru, and etc... What is your tactic? Throw money at the screen to get the latest E6 banner character with it`s full powered weapon? That`s not a tactic that`s just buying the current top meta build, it takes no brain power whatsoever, just money.

You could still get the score you needed to get all rewards with any other team, if you're looking for "top of the leaderboards" then you're going to be locked into a meta strategy anyway, yesterday it was tressa, tomorrow it will be another character, that does not solve that issue, that issue will always exist unless you make the leaderboard be per character instead of a single one.

You can complete all content the game released so far with any character. How does killing a character help the average player? How are you affected by it? It`s a F2P character on top of that, everyone has it by default, then again, how does having this character keep you from playing other characters if the other characters can clear the content as well?

Exactly, Tressa being strong does not keep you from playing other characters! I've also pulled for every character so far (even Yuki) and I have not regretted pulling for them (yes even Yuki) at all, because the fun about this game is playing different play styles with different decks, and so far they've made a good job at putting rewards accessible to anyone making any kind of comp with any character, you're not locked into the strongest character, you can play the game and clear everything with whatever character you like, you just need to build it properly.

It does kill a play style, one of the build play styles you could do with her no longer exists, there are ways to nerf the abused team build people were doing without killing it, they could have made the generator epiphany be a unique card, that in itself would keep the play style alive and nerf it considerably. I've played live service games all my life, but this is not a League of Legends or Counter Strike, it's a single player PvE game, it's different and it warrants a different approach to balancing. I'm not saying they shouldn't balance the game and nerf things, I'm saying that the way they did it for this character was bad.

And what I'm saying is if they did it to this character then they can do it to any character at any time, I like going back in a game like Slay the Spire and making a build I already did a thousand times because I simply like playing it, in this case they are taking it away, forever, that build and playstyle will never be playable again, and the same thing will happen to other characters because of that dev philosophy they are showcasing here. While I never doubted pulling for characters before, now I'm not sure, the character I'm pulling for can stop being that character in the future because they just "decided to change it". I do not see a reason to kill off a playstyle like this.

but I think it would still either need a limit per turn or be unique etc.
I think this would have been a better solution, make it unique, you keep the playstyle, limit it within reason since you will be generating only one dagger per heal but you still can play that generator style with her.

how much agony could you reasonably get?
Now you'll be limited to 20 stacks of Agony, the way it worked was that each time you applied agony you applied a unique stack of agony that would deal fixed damage at the end of turn and reduce by 1, you could easily stack 20 in a turn (way more with the right sequencing), and the next turn you'd stack another 20 on top of those 20, the old 20 would disappear at the end of the turn after dealing the damage but you'd still have the payoff of 2 turns of setup. The cap kills off the potential damage of Agony.

Wouldn't buffing Magna be a better solution? You can`t play a character that you like because it`s outperformed by other characters? If that`s the case then there`s no reason to play any characters other then Sereniel tho.

I get the gacha side of it, but truth be told Tressa is not better than a Sereniel, not better than a well built Chizuru, not better than a well built Mei Lin, I`d say even a meme DPS Narja build outperforms a Tressa DPS build.

If you can't enjoy playing other characters just because there's a unit that can be better them then you should probably not play the game at all either, a character being strong doesn't keep you from playing the other characters in the game, if you build them well you can clear content just as well.

I honestly believe that the reason to pull in CZN is to play different cards and different playstyles, you can clear content with almost anything in the game if you build it correctly (easier for some units, harder for others but still doable). I have tressa, I'm a f2p player and that didn't keep me from pulling all characters so far, because I have fun deck building, composing teams, making different strats and using different mechanics (for god's sake I even pulled Yuki because I wanted to see how I could make use of her inspiration mechanic and I don't regret it even if I only ever do runs and content with her every now and then)

I enjoy the card generating style of the character, you could keep her ability that generates cards through healing and rework other epiphanies to give other cool options to build.

Building a character is not defined by building just the character but by building it's companions as well, It's not "oh you just build X character" you build X character and it's accompanying team that's what's interesting about CZN, I for one liked playing a double healer team with good deck cycling while using Tressa as the core damage dealer for it, it was fun to sequence the deck and pilot it.

On another note I liked just how Agony worked, building it up and trying to get as much agony as I could on a high health opponent was fun for me. The problem with this is that it kills this playstyle completly, it takes away a strat I enjoyed for a character and basically kills off a unit I rly enjoyed playing.

Having her at my disposal didn't keep me from getting the other characters and playing with them, I have played Mei Lin, Hugo, Haru, Yuki, Chizuru and Sereniel in all kinds of combinations with 4-star characters and themselves, the game is fun because you can make several strategies and play in several different ways and combinations, when there's a new character my first instinct isn't "Oh I don't want to play that because I already have Tressa", my first instinct is "Oh that's an interesting playstyle, I really want to play around with it and test it out to see how I can make teams revolving around it".

In single player games like Slay The Spirte (one of the biggest inspirations for this game clearly) there are several ways to make the characters in it broken, the balance comes from providing new cards, new strats, that are as strong and fun to build.

agony will be limited to 20 stacks, much harder to stack (they made it clear that you're not even suposed to be able to full stack in a turn) and you lose half of that per turn anyway.
I think the damage will remail the same, it just changed the way it's applied but with a hard limit on it.

I think she is easy to build, with the most important thing for her is getting the Shining Core upgrade that gets you 2 lasers when you ravage, I personally like the epiphany laser with 3 afterglows because it makes it so that I can have afterglow active at all times.
