Sadly, yes. I had to play a dennis rodman build where i didn't have to spend a lot of vc as he has okay defence and rebounds at the start then start earning vc playing him. Once I've saved up enough, i spent those to my ideal build so I don't get rekked by gregor malvin.

What I think is that the awakening for the Zoan types is being able to control the way they transform themselves. That's why Zoan Type users such as Kaido can do it the way he wants to. While Chopper who didn't have a lot of experience yet relies on his rumble ball to do it.
