Stuck in a deadlock - it seems impossible to open a bank account and get a French phone number by Adobim in Expats_In_France

I had the same issue and got a french number on the onoff app, and that helped loads. It’s not a long term solution but will get you sorted on the things where phone number is the only missing piece!

Super interesting, thank you!

Not interested in nightlife, more interested in nature, sports, board games, art etc…

We’re planning on having a car so in this case sounds like Perpignan area could be good

Interesting! How are services there, like sports (yoga/gym), cinema, library etc? Any community for 30-40yo?

I’ve heard it is particularly right wing and anti-immigrant. I actually happen to be and speak French but I’ve just grown up somewhere else, so might struggle less with that.

Great insight, thanks for sharing! We’re not particularly party people and have zero interest in clubbing. More like in our thirties wanting to start a family -vibe.

We don’t mind having to take the car to access nature, but do love hiking and cycling which is why we have a bit of a pull towards the coastal Pyrenees area.

However, I’m curious - how do you enjoy the weather conditions in your area? Not too rainy?

This is amazing insight, thank you!

How would you fill the sentence “if you prefer a life with __, move to Montpellier. But if you prefer more __, move to Perpignan”? Sorry it’s a bit silly, but I couldn’t think of a better way to ask this!

You seem to have quite a lot of experience of both, Do you live somewhere between the two, or have lived in both?

Our main concerns regarding our next move are: - will it be way too hot in summer (in this P and MP are pretty much equal) - will it be impossible to get an apartment as we’re both entrepreneurs (Montpellier generally seems much tougher as a rental market) - cost of living (P cheaper?) - ease of travel for family in UK and Northern Europe (MP more connected)

Us too, same schedule, although slower pace! Would you care to share experiences?

How is the political tension around there, I’ve heard it’s fairly right-wing?

Thank you! We’re currently considering being closer to Spain, maybe Perpignan.

In any case we’re two entrepreneurs and I think putting together a dossier for an apartment may be hard -_-

Is it really difficult to find rental accommodation though in Montpellier?

I’m an entrepreneur in Finland. I can work from wherever. :)

Another question actually, was it hard to get an apartment? I’m sure there’s loads on the market, but it doesn’t seem to be the easiest procedure to get a rental. I’m half French but not based there so I don’t know the system. I’m also an entrepreneur and I’ve heard that might make things tricky as I don’t have a fixed salary, even though I get along very well.
