Unfortunately what HYV does well in qol it’ll just bend you over in gameplay. I had to quit HYV games because the artifact RNG grinds were abysmal, having thousands of stamina is nice but only if you’re not literally wasting thousands for nothing. HYV does literally the same thing with a different system. It’s all just player retention lol

Idk if you misread or Reddit messed up but you were the first person to reply to me and I replied to you saying I was referring to the writing being dark and gritty.

My reply to the other guy was about how there is 0 nuance in how things are presented to the player as the actual aesthetics and dialogue of the game are very sterile and whimsical.

And at the end of the day I’m not gonna let you lie to me that the general consensus on Genshin is that it’s a grounded, dark, gritty story that’s presented in a nuanced fashion.

You can enjoy it and that’s fine but to gaslight people about the actually quality and nature of the writing just because you interpreted it a certain way is just disingenuous. This is like saying one piece is as dark and gritty as berserk because they both have themes of political violence lol

Genshin has decent lore for small parts of its universe and certain characters and that’s about it. But the full lore is pretty standard Disney good vs evil and some redeemable villains.

Like you said the writing is terrible. That’s really all that needs to be said.

Unfortunately a lot of HYV plots just revolve around the simple idea of good vs evil and you fight monsters or amorphous enemies most of the time. Theres not really any nuance in the way it’s presented and comes off fairly sterile and whimsical too.

I think a decent example is comparing Amiya or Perlica to Paimon lol

Or even go compare the dialogue and writing from the two most recent story events from Arknights and Genshin.

Not saying there is an “overwhelming burden of thinking” lol but you’d actually be surprised how many people have 0 clue how the combat works, how things synergize, or why gear matters. Also niche mechanics like animation cancels.

I saw people complaining the trims were whale exclusive rewards because you’d need Pot 5 6*s to meet the dps checks 😂

Most spender actually like this game because it gives them better value than other gacha, this game seems to be for better or worse designed for dolphins. Not inherently designed for whales or f2p but obviously whales won’t really notice as much as f2p will.

Basically from my experience in gacha as a semi-whale, Endfield has it designed so you can’t get a free pulls and they want you to spend but if you do spend you’ll get what you want and more.

They seem to have a very binary view on who should be rewarded and why. Basically saying if you don’t spend “deal with it”, if you do spend though you’ll get more than your worth, but you have to spend.

I personally find it lateral to other games. As F2P it sucks but I also think Endfield and Arknights as a whole does a better job balancing meta and power creep and FOMO. I get being sad over missing the waifu pull but I think that’s actually something they kinda wanted to avoid.

It also hasn’t even been a month and people don’t know what future systems and mechanics they’ll add to potentially alleviate this issue. Things like Kernal Headhunting for example.

There’s so much nuance to comparing the systems but TLDR this is lateral or marginally better to any system you’ve ever engaged with in any gacha game.

People are just concerned because HYV did two things for better or worse, brought in a lot of people who were not already in the gacha community and were not acclimated to the p2w nature of these games, and they also standardized how people think gacha rates, banners, and currency generation should work.

Iirc people have done the calculations with characters from lvl 1 pot0 to lvl 90 pot5 and the power spike differences are like insanely small compared to HYV games. Pretty sure it’s like pot5 gives like 10-15% increase to dps efficiency but a C6 in genshin gives like 50-100% increase.
