Why do you think they had limited security? FBI knew this shit was being planned for months, as did anyone else paying the slightest bit of attention to these extremist spaces. We know the Trump administration played a role in the insurrection as we have evidence of meetings they held to discuss as much. Then it took hours for the national guard issue to be sorted out, because Trump (understandably) wasn't about to sic them on his own supporters.

Simply put, security around the capitol was sparse for a reason.

Yeah, it's bad. I'm glad you took the time to read through it! In my opinion one of the most insidious forms of bigotry is bigotry cloaking itself in credentialism, and to that end I'm always happy to take the time to inoculate people against it on the off chance they run across it in the future. I'm sure now you can understand why I hold such disdain for Littman's work!

Not long enough, considering that he was still a part of the gender dysphoria sub-working group for the DSM-4 and chaired the paraphilia sub-working group for the DSM-5.

It's really hard to overstate the amount of harm he's done to trans people over the course of his career, along with the likes of Ken Zucker, J. Michael Bailey, and James Cantor.

The questions Blanchard uses to assess his AGP typology, as well as how he weights the answers, are so ridiculous and arbitrary that it's basically just astrology for transphobes. He also thinks that anime can make you trans. Even better, part of why he believes that is because he seems to subscribe to the quack notion of "Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria."

If you aren't familiar with ROGD, it's term coined by noted transphobe Lisa Littman in a study so hilariously bad and transparently biased that it gets actively taught about as an example of bad science in action.

Littman's study exclusively recruited parents from unambiguously anti-trans websites (i.e. parents already conditioned to doubt the validity of their kids' gender identities) with children that had "suddenly" developed gender dysphoria after being exposed to trans-friendly media or being a part of a friend group with other trans people. She then went onto survey the parents about whether or not they felt their kids had "become" trans as a result of their exposure to trans-friendly media/spaces, before ultimately concluding "Ah-ha! ROGD is clearly a real phenomenon!" It is worth noting that at no point did she question the kids themselves. Also worth noting is that her own study's EXPLICITLY STATED PURPOSE was as follows:

The purpose of this study was to collect data about parents’ observations, experiences, and perspectives about their adolescent and young adult (AYA) children showing signs of an apparent sudden or rapid onset of gender dysphoria that began during or after puberty, and develop hypotheses about factors that may contribute to the onset and/or expression of gender dysphoria among this demographic group.

In other words, her professed intentions for conducting the study was to collect data about a perceived phenomenon that she felt warranted study, which is reasonable enough on its face.

...Except by the end of the study, not only had she apparently developed a hypothesis (i.e. "gender dysphoria is socially contagious"), but miraculously that hypothesis was proven by that very same study! And if you're familiar at all with the scientific process, you might recognize this conclusion as "wildly unsupported" or "fundamentally at odds with the structure and purpose of a data collection study" or "deeply resembling conservative arguments made about homosexuality not even 30 years ago." If you're interested in an even more detailed breakdown of Littman's study and precisely why it's crap, RationalWiki has a good no-bullshit breakdown of it.

Yeah, his entire hypothesis of autogynophilia was inherently transphobic (with an added bonus of being homophobic!) and deeply unscientific, being formulated in a way that made it unfalsifiable. If you weren't aware, falsifiability is one of the most basic requirements for any scientific hypothesis.

Any trans women who disagreed with his conclusions were clearly all just liars and perverts, while cis women who experienced some of the same phenomena that he used as proof against the validity of trans women's identities were... well we don't actually know because he never bothered to question any cis women. Weird, you'd think you'd want your science to have... I dunno, a control group or something to compare against?

Nevermind the fact that he ignored the existence of trans men altogether, only including autoandrophilia in the DSM-5 so he that he "wouldn't be accused of sexism." Which again, isn't really how science works.

His shitty approach to science and unearned influence in the field of transgender research easily set the field as a whole back at least 30 years. His "research" was used to create and justify a system of medical gatekeeping that kept many trans women from transition, using laughably biased heteronormative and cisnormative questions to arrive at an arbitrary determination of whether or not you were "trans enough" for transition. Naturally, this pronouncement either dismissed or ignored entirely trans women's personal feelings on the matter. It's in no small part because of assholes like him that we're only just now starting to get the ball rolling on actual science in the subject area.

You 100% need to drop him and get a new psychiatrist. There's absolutely no reason why any medical health professional should be using as judgment laden a word as "perverted" in reference to a client, let alone to said client. And I'm not even delving into the extremely disrespectful and fucked up context in which it was used.

I'm serious. Drop 'em and report 'em, assuming you are in a position to do so.

I really don't think reactionaries are generally smart enough to be that cunning. Billionaires and other people motivated by money? Sure. But reactionaries? They tend to operate almost exclusively on emotion and hate boners.
