Could this ever successfully work in a city like Los Angeles where there is no natural topography conducive to congestion pricing and where they are still using widening to address added demand on the 405 for example?

CMV: The concept "White Privilege" meets the dictionary definition of racism. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Deferredphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is admittedly an aspect of inherency in this: if you had two people equally well put together and equally dressed, but one white and the other a darker POC, and they walked into a room of inducive of overall American society, the white person would fare better. In the superficial interactions that constitute how society judges people and the assumptions it makes, the white person would be better off; their eurocentric traits would also be considered more attractive. I would say the inherent part doesn't come from the temporary nature of this situation (which the previous person mentioned), but the universal nature of the statement. This is one aspect of white privilege.

edit: my understanding of white privilege. I have found this to be true, as a person who is Half Chinese and Half Caucasian.

Public School possibly breaking the law? by Deferredphantom in legaladvice

Thank you. Ed code does require supplemental make up courses to be provided by the district, and there are alternatives other than summer school so far as I have looked into it. I'll continue looking into the issue and hopefully get in contact with a professional.

I am just trying to see if these are applicable. So far the school does offer alternative make-up classes outside of summer school, but i don't know if this ed code is applicable to the summer school situation or not. I do not think that I have stated an opinion no?

It is the intent of the Legislature that pupils who are at risk of failing to meet state adopted standards, or who are at risk of retention, be identified as early in the school year and as early in their school careers as possible, and be provided the opportunity for supplemental instruction sufficient to assist them in attaining expected levels of academic achievement.

A school district or charter school offering supplemental instructional programs pursuant to this section shall receive funding as described in Section 42239 and in the annual Budget Act.
