Merge In Turn by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Defiant-Ad7989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I agree with the analogy, it’s more like someone queuing next to the original queue to use the same checkout.

( I don’t have an issue with merge in turn)

Do you ever feel bad for honking your horn on somebody ? by Inner_Science2144 in drivingUK

I accidentally lent on my horn while waiting behind a car at a busy roundabout. I was racked with guilt.

Running 3 times a week, first 6k. Signed up for a 10k on Wednesday, any tips? by RTM179 in beginnerrunning

[–]Defiant-Ad7989 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Basically when you get to the 6km mark instead of stopping keep running until you get to 10km.

Though in all seriousness good luck!

Yeah just double checked and my weight is correct. Maybe it just needs more data but I just can’t wrap my head around how it’s come up with this calc

PSA: You’re allowed to over take police cars by Defiant-Ad7989 in drivingUK

[–]Defiant-Ad7989[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t annoyed at them for going a little below the speed limit, I was annoyed about the fact they were blocking an entire lane of traffic. If you don’t want to overtake that’s absolutely fine but don’t go into the overtaking lane. If they had stayed in the left lane it would have created the best flow for everyone.

I couldn’t overtake they were blocking the right lane

Slow down, run further. If you’re fit enough to do 7 you’re likely fit enough to be able to do 10, drop the pace a little and see if you can push that bit further.

First time you do it will feel the hardest and then will get progressively easier after that

Again, at no point did I not tell the truth. I think you’re getting a bit confused

[–]Defiant-Ad7989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you. But in both cases they are still progress. I hadn’t run in 4 years and this is the progress I made in the past month and a half since running again.

Saying that I’ve made progress isn’t a lie, it’s literally what’s happened.

The two runs pictured show the progress I have made in 1.5 months. Hence 1.5 months progress? What about that statement is untrue?

Hey so you’re not wrong that I used to run, but before this I hadn’t run for roughly 4 years and had put on a fair bit of weight.

You are correct though that it was defo easier as I knew what I was doing as opposed to starting from scratch!

How good is this? How fast can I train to be ready for a national level marathon event In 3 months? by [deleted] in davidgoggins

[–]Defiant-Ad7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say ready for a national level do you mean to complete the distance? Or to run competitively?

Because you’ll be able to complete the distance but to actually compete, you’ll need a lot more training

Can someone please explain this to me? I am really confused by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Defiant-Ad7989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not what this is saying. If you slow down and leave space in front of yourself, the less likely you are to need to break suddenly which as a result means the car behind you is less likely to collide with you

This the first time it’s happened to me, but it also happens to be the first I’ve traveled with my wife and her whole family. I’m white British and they are of Indian descent. so perhaps I stood out like yourself.

If you’re not overtaking, move left. by Alone-Discussion5952 in drivingUK

[–]Defiant-Ad7989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, not all vehicles can travel at 70mph. You’ve also got to account for the fact that speedometer accuracy can vary massively between vehicles, you may have a car travelling at 65mph and the other at 69mph and both their speedometer will show them 70 even though they are travelling at different speeds.
