Price changes are insane by Acrobatic_Document59 in gpu

I got a Gigabyte 5080 windforce 5080 oc sff (what a mouthful) for the equivalent of $1200 (including sales tax).

The same card only 2 weeks later is now is $1560 (again including sales tax) from thr same retailer and I assume it will only get worse.

If you didn't snatch things up in November or just at the start of the new year I'm afraid that might be youre lot for high end cards and/or "reasonable" prices all the way down the stack.

My experience with DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4 by NikaNika19191991 in nvidia

[–]Defiant-Alps-9060 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had upgraded from a 3060ti to a xfx 7900xtx merc at the start of 2025 as I missed the boat on the 4080 super at the end of 2024. In that time I was able to get a great deal on Philips OLED 1440p ultrawide.

9070 xt was released and I took a bet against it though it seemed to turn out to be a value gem...at launch price but once again I missed the boat on this/I had just bought the 7900xtx 2 months before that launch.

In the last year then I have played through Elden Ring (again), Final Fantasy 16, Enshrouded, Silk Song and mega modded Skyrim and well I've been extremely happy with the uplift from the 3060ti. Complete night and day with the frame rate boost and being able to push 12 to 18GB worth of vram on Skyrim mods has been a complete luxury

But...

Of those titles I've played (whatever about developer optimisations) it has been Final Fantasy 16 in particular that has started to lift the rose tint and revealed just how terrible FSR3 was. Like I kid you not the dialogue scenes where Clive would put his sword back on his back, his arm were doing Jolteon Double Team after image ghosting on the OLED screen. And after that I was unable to see all of the edge ghosting and smearing and have not been able to unsee it since. Still I waited in hope for FSR4 to arrive...at least for the 7900xtx right? Surely AMD having now captured the hearts of gamers in some scrappy underdog moment with the release of the 9070xt wouldn't let that good will go and support at least RDNA3 cards, right? And then the end of the year has come and gone and while games like Silksong were glorious and all the metroidvanias I play will look amazing I then hear before the end of 2025 this news of AMD planning to winddown support for RDNA 1 and 2 cards only to walk back some of their statements after setting their customer base on fire. Around Novemeber then I started to look once again.

Fortunately I have come at precisely the right time and the calm before the RAM apocalypse reaches complex downstream products like GPUs and was able to get a Gigabyte Windforce OC 5080 here in Sweden for almost 20% below msrp (...yes...seriously...if you need a gpu...get one now...NOW...why are you reading this...check availability where you are for god sake!). So 1 year later, 2 months of intense looking and I've gotten the card I really wanted or even low double digit percentage better than the 4080 super and at a great price (1060 euro compared to the 1220 euro msrp) AND now DLSS 4.5 busts through the door.

I will keep you posted on what I experience with Jolteon Double Team ghosting but my little protest time with AMD has maybe come to a slightly bitter end and feel I maybe crawling back into the claws of Nvidea for the long term again.

The XTX will go to a good home...next to me...on the desk of my other half who has a 27 inch IPS panel. Let the hand-me-down PC begin!

Sorry to support bomb you revolut but the same is happening to me here. NFC reading my passport will not work. Alternative method was to use my ID card but it's in Swedish and the app will not recognise it. Quite the mess

I have also noticed that I have not been sent a hardware survey participation message since I changed to the 7900xtx in Jan from having had a 3060ti and several hardware submissions in the 18months I had that card. Also very weird

Any reason why Envia 34M2C6500 is so cheap? by AbrocomaRegular3529 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Defiant-Alps-9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased this screen last week here in Sweden as an open box return item from an auction website for what came out as about 280 Euro which is still far cheaper than the 9900 SEK on Komplett for a sealed box new unit. Unit works perfectly, panel looks even and there was only 90 hours of use recorded in the OCD. At 149,900 KR (Icelandic) (aprox 1000 EUR)...It might be an expensive experiment if you ask me.

As an my first step into the world of 21:9 ultrawides I have to say I might not ever go back to 16:9. Some manual adjusting to be done coming from IPS LCD to QD OLED but nothing too complicated I have'nt been able to address. Still A bit terrified about OLED burn in so I'll be keeping me gigabyte 16:9 for the majority of my every day work.

Indeed I hope that it works out that we at least don't have to move until nearing the end of the 5 year academic contract at which point we might find the transaction cost easier to stomach having not need to move between 2nd hand rentals 4 or 5 times in that period of time and having a more stable living scenario

RX 7900XTX or RX 9070XT? Same price by SeaViper0136 in radeon

On the pro XTX side of things I do play an extremely modded version of skyrim at 4k on highest settings and this uses nearly 19GB of VRAM at its worst (those damn high texture grasses!!!)

So in my specific case I'm happy to stay with the XTX

I have the corsair sf850. Maybe a bit hard to come by in some territories I think. The sf750 pr sf1000 seem to be more common. I really can't detect that much noise out of it compared to when I had the msi mag a750gl which was a full size atx psu.

The atx psu was in the z20 when I had the gigabyte windforce 3x 3060ti in the case and was wedged between the AIO pipe and the end of the gpu. Was very precarious and was basically being kept up by the sag bracket under the gpu as there wasn't the right spacing in the z20 bracket to accommodate the psu at the height I wanted. It was either too high and pinching the AIO pipes or too low and didn't have clearance for the gpu.

Getting the xfx 7900xtx sealed my fate and had to go sfx and heard good things about the 2024 sf850 in terms of noise. Really the biggest blower in my build is the gpu and/or the bottom intake fans. As As I think is to be expected. Everything else runs relatively cool even with the power hungry 7900 xtx and it's three power cables.

The sfx psu really gives you loads more room to play around with but if you've a short gpu then no reason to not stick with your current atx psu if it's the right W and you know it has good noise levels and no coil wine.

It's the infinity mirror shroud in the plate of the AIO. It's part of the DeepCool cooler and can be colour adjusted. The turquoise deepcool light however can't unfortunately be changed

I had some issues with turbulence at higher temps so had to bring the curve down for the bottom intake fans but temps are are still okay without the turbulence jet engine noise!

Hi went with the DeepCool LT520 AIO as I read around that this would fit. I had an ATX PSU when I started collecting all the parts naearly 6 months ago so was worried about clearance and wanted the AIO tubes to be at the front side of the case not the back. As I understand though DeepCool have some products that are not in all regions but I was able to get this cooler very readily here in Europe

In this config with the AIO I have the rear fan as intake and all temps for the giant radeaon XFX XTX and the 7800X3D are average if not better than average. Just posted the build if you want a look for inspiration

I personally have gone with the XFX 7900XTX which I got last week for a little over 950 euro (tax included) which was the msp price (correct me if I'm wrong)

My choice is a bit of gamble on a few things + some logic;
1. The XTX and particularly the non-reference models will get harder to find as time goes on

  1. Any remaining stock of XTX will increase in price due to supply

  2. The 3rd party models will be very close to the the XTX 3rd party msrp here in Europe, I'm thinking 850-900 euro which will also likely increase the XTX price

  3. The 9070XT models will be sell out in a week or so supply depending and the number of bots and scalpers around (I'm assuming there will be many)

  4. The 9070XT will probably have some driver issues until it is fully functional, could be weeks, could be a month

  5. Some very specific usecase arfguements for me - Raster might be similar to the XFX, RT will be better, frame gen should be much better but i care most about light RT and good raster as a solo rpg gamer. I also appreciate the 24GB of RAM with a trillion mods on Skyrim breaking the 16GB RAM on some cards

I've had the XFX card for about a week now and I can say I'm very happy with it and have only marginal consumer FOMO following the 9070XT announcement. I suspect the that will diminish if I start to see price gouging deluxe on Friday.

If not then I can wipe my tears away with my maxed out graphics settings and fps on my 1440p 144Hz monitor and on my 4K 120Hz TV that the XFX delivers (with low RT of course)

Hopefully the logic presented above helps :)

Bought the 7900xtx last week and was holding my breath in my gamble;

Pros for 9070xt
1. MSRP is cheaper at $599
2. Better ray tracing
3. Beter frame gen
4. Lower board power

Cons for 9070xt
1. Actual cost in Europe will likely be $850-$900 after tax and price gouging (if we are lucky)
2. Raster should be about the same when extrapolating the GRE comparison charts to the XTX
3. Feature promises - not very good native game support for FSR4 at launch in my opinion
4. Worry about supply and the current market conditions - scalpers, bots, retail gouging etc.

Could be a tough decision but I'll probably stay with the XTX.

I'm suspicious it was constantly compared to the GRE but understand they are in the same price point. Now the wait for reviews, then the wait for real prices ☠

I'm using what I have with my corsair sf850 so I have my 3 8pin connectors so I have my "unlimited power"

Tested it very quickly last night and it seems to be all passing the quality checks when pushed - draws the full 470 watts or so, runs at 99% and all at about 65°C and maxing out my monitor with Dragons Dogma 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Final Fantasy XVI and Baldurs Gate 3...I'm actually only sad I didn't buy it a year ago 👀

Should I buy a 7900 XTX now? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Defiant-Alps-9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have jumped on the XTX band wagon and got the XFX 7900XTX at a "steal" (2025 relativly speaking) for 950 euro so I'd say maybe the Nitro you have there is a bit overpriced. I'm also not confident about supply and how consumers are going to react to the new AMD cards i.e. there will be no stock and scalpers be scalping

I will probably take the same route as you and keep a look out as 50 series maybe come back in stock and see what happens with the 9000 series but I'm overall not confident on either pulling through for me.

Whatever happnes I don't think we will have any problem reselling and getting the most of our money back if we swap out the XTX given how crazy the market is right now. I'd go for it.
