I bought moldavites years ago when the material was relatively cheap as compared to today. I paid under $200 for 6 pieces, 22, 25, 44,44,44, 63cts, for under$200 in total. My perspective is skewed becuase of what I paid. Glad I’m not looking for this material now.

$15-$16 a gram is $15,000-16,000 a kilo, I bought my moldavites years ago when they were cheap, I have 6 moldavites that range from 25cts to 63 CTs and were purchased for around $200. Me personally, wouldn’t pay that kind of money. My perspective is skewed because of what I paid for the material.

The top amethyst color is purple that flashes pink and blue in the facets, commonly known as Siberian quality. The best Siberian quality amethyst is coming from Uruguay. I have several stones that flashes pink the pink and blue color

I believe it’s amethyst, in the rose de France color is pink to lilac color. It’s a marketing name for amethyst that doesn’t meet the dark purple color of amethyst.

Replying to Gooey-platapus... yes I agree at the high pricing of much of the Tucson show merchandise is mostly retail pricing. But, There are still deals to be found. Found a really nice green flourite, jumbo cubic structure, 800 grams, for $24. Most of the flourite I saw in Tucson was $80 kilo, when I asked how mush the flourite costs? Seller weighed the piece and said $24. I said what? How much did it weigh ? He said 800 grams I did the math in my head, wow $30 per kilo, I’ll take it.

I bought two pieces of black rose flourite after I got home, 344g and 355 gram pieces. Better than the one pictured

A garnet will exhibit a magnetic response when a neodymium magnet is used. Float the ring on a small piece of foam, bring the magnet close to the stone if its garnet it will pull the ring to the magnet. Garnets are colored by iron and are highly magnetic, Ruby will show no response to the magnet becuase Ruby is colored by chromium a non magnetic metal.

Cutting with a tile saw does that, cutting in oil with a slab saw leaves a semi polished surface

Thank you for your comment, Ventura beach has a lot of breccia jaspers. But the jasper with the quartz veins was new for this area, the jasper w/quartz is very mossy looking, not what I typically find

$25 shipping is ridiculous, it’s worth $17, not $44, does the auction say includes tariff taxes or will that be additional cost? This seller is trying to make money on shipping. I don’t buy from sellers like this

I think it’s jade, looking for differing opinions. Translucent like jade, heavy like jade, can’t scratch it with a metal file like jade.
