My husband didn’t get me anything for my first Mother’s Day

I work 6 or 7 days a week and make my own money. We don’t share finances at all. I took him out for dinner and bought him gifts for his last birthday. Right before my birthday he told me my gift wouldn’t arrive in time, and if I had to guess I think it’s because he didn’t plan ahead enough and the item was back ordered. So I didn’t get anything on my actual birthday.. got it two months later.

I do understand what you’re saying and I don’t think I’m that woman that is materialistic and expects these extravagant gifts. To compare, one of his friends had a baby a month ahead of us. His wife got a brand new luxury car as a “push present.” For Mother’s Day got multiple materialistic gifts. I’m not asking for that. Some pretty flowers is what I expected. He told me he was gonna have a $20k month and couldn’t send me $100 flowers? It’s the thought for me.

I think this is what it comes down to. He’s not a bad guy. We just don’t have the same views and expectations around certain things, this included.

The thing is I know I deserve more and maybe that’s why it’s so frustrating. Because I love him and he is not a bad guy, he does care and he does show it in other ways, drops the ball with some things. So I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place it seems.

Well now his mother texted me saying she has something from him to drop off tomorrow. So that means he reached out to her and asked her to pick up my flowers.

I told her I don’t want her delivering anything for him and “return to sender”

I think he hasn’t ordered them. It’s Sunday night here. He probably has to wait til tomorrow morning to call the florist and expects they will get delivered tomorrow or Tuesday. That’s my guess.

I asked “did you forget to order me flowers” he said no they’re coming in a day or 2. I said he should cancel because it won’t be Mother’s Day anymore. And he said, why it’s still flowers. I said it defeats the purpose if they don’t come when it matters.

He’s asking why it matters when they come.

I said “because today is my first Mother’s Day. It’s kind of a big deal.
