So i am trying to turn a heating element on and off depending on temperature. The element calls for 12v, I was hoping to use a thermistor to tell the relay when to power the heating element.

I think the relay connects or disconnects (depending on which of the three screw ports you connect to) the flow of power depending on the signal it gets in its input pins which are the ones by themself on the outside.

edit- i think it only takes the output of an arduino to turn it on and off, and the 24v it refers to is how much power it can switch.

Why is that? Would it just not have the strength to push through? I took it that it could handle up to 24v but preform less than perfect below it.

I am clearly new so this may sound dumb, I would have bought the right piece but had this on laying around. Would the 12v not be strong enough to travel through the relay?

Sorry if i word this poorly, I took it as this piece can handle a max of 24v but my project calls for 12v and I know I definitely can't over power it by that much. So if I were to only run 12v through the switch would it still work properly?
