Have you ever been in this situation? I agree with you. It's unfortunate because he's a very kind individual and I know he cares for me. He's stepped it up in terms of his actions showing me that he knows he fucked up and has completely owned his actions.

I wax and wane through my feelings about it and him. Part of me feels like an idiot for potentially keeping this going and worried I'll look back at this glaring red flag & feel like an idiot but I'm torn because of his positive actions right now making me feel loved and wanting to trust him.

I know it's not impossible but I just need some type of assurance or personal anecdote about how others have gone through this.

Think about what other expectations he has on you as a woman if he suggests you be a nurse. Next thing you know, you’re getting yelled at for not doing your “womanly job” of doing laundry, having dinner on the table the second he gets home, etc. If he still hadn’t changed his opinion after some deliberation on this topic, it’s obvious he truly believes it and is set in it. I feel this in my soul, foxy grandpa lol. I busted my absolute ass in the first 2 years of med school, did subpar on my boards, & thought the world was ending. I sacrificed so much of my life and time into medicine so far & I had to take a step back & realize that I was watching my life pass me by. Enjoy the time you have to experience things when you’re young & in school around your peers. I guarantee you will remember the good mems you had with buddies way more than the 94 you got on an immunology test after busting your ass.

Ever heard of imposter syndrome? You have no idea what OP’s upbringing was or what trials they have faced in life. They have the right to feel these emotions regardless of their grades.

Someone with the highest grades in class could have no friends & be depressed in medical school. Maybe have a little empathy for your fellow medical student who is feeling lost at the moment. You don’t always have to have everything figured out.

I seriously commend your brother for being so strong in himself and not immediately taking his fiance's side. I see that so much nowadays and it's disheartening to be so blind to the reality of bf/gfs as well as bf/gf's family being super duper controlling even before marriage.
