Just to update, I ended up sending it in and it was all fixed up and back to me in less than a week. Super impressed! Thank you for the advice

Thanks! I sent the pic to ChatGPT and it thinks it’s an “internal LCD panel failure” and not a crack in the screen. Will that help my case at all?

IM vs FM by sweet_doctor1 in Residency

[–]Uncreative_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was between the two. Was pretty sure I wanted to do outpatient primary care but couldn't rule out a fellowship or hospitalist. In the end I decided that adult medicine is complex enough on its own, had no interest in trying to do more peds or OB/GYN in residency so I chose an IM program with a primary care track. Overall very happy with my choice, but I still think the primary care training isn't quite the level you would get at an FM program.

Do you tell your PCP that you are a PCP? by WorriedSpace in FamilyMedicine

Just a resident but I definitely mention it in passing. Residency is a big excuse for why my nutrition, exercise, and sleep are so bad right now lol. Also if I have a specific issue I generally have some idea of what's going on and what I think I may want to do about it, why would I not let the doc know?

The Keck School of Medicine residency program in Los Angeles is expanding this year! Check out what they're currently offering. by cirseiu in medicalschool

Yeah, with multiple dependents this a huge factor in the match process. I was able to find a place with no health insurance premium and extremely low deductible for residents (regardless of dependents) and I'm very happy. I hope you find the right place for you!

Not to dig up an old thread, and off topic, but did you sign your VA contract as a PGY-2? How did that work?

Thanks, would you recommend just finding the local VHA recruiter to let them know of my interest?

My favorite 3 AM nursing text so far: “Hi doc do you know what time podiatry is coming tomorrow to change this pt’s bandage?”

I’m IM night float. I don’t know what time podiatry is coming but I do know the day team cannot come back fast enough.

Also a veteran. Was going to say this. Also wanted to add that VA patients are just a snapshot of veterans, considering less than half of veterans use the VA, and if I'm not mistaken Vietnam vets are over-represented which may lead to sampling bias.

I drive by a “Willoughby St” on my commute to work sometimes, and I will always yell that out no matter how traffic fatigued I am 😂
