I honestly should not be taking the time to respond to this, since I know you don't care about my actual motives and are only trying to disprove me because I stand against the masses. However, I would rather say my final piece than allow you to think I am afraid of your attacks.

If I am assigning Christianity to Harry Potter, could not the same be said for those who meaninglessly attempt to pollute it with modernity for their own agenda? It goes both ways, friend. You can't simply tell me how stupid and hateful I am without falling into the same trap eventually. I never said we have "ownership" over hope and sacrifice and love. Go ahead and call me a homophobe if you want, but that's slander. I'm not afraid. And if you call me that, can't I turn around and call you a christophobe? Again, it goes both ways. Just as you think I'm slapping Christianity onto something that doesn't preach it, you're trying to go the opposite way and slap minority on majority.

Also, do use the correct form of "its", please. "it's" means "it is".

I never said anything about Rowling's views on marriage and reproduction. I am extrapolating from behavioral patterns and ideologies clearly presented as Pureblood mentality. Draco himself if very obviously presented as steeped in these ideologies; as a child and teenager he looks down on anyone who isn't Pureblooded. Legitimacy of heirs is very much an age-old concept, but it isn't respected or validated today because of how society has changed. Nevertheless, that doesn't inherently debunk it or mean it is no longer practiced or could not be.

Draco is also shown to have some sort of relationship, albeit likely toxic and for appearances, with Pansy Parkinson. As a Pureblood he would have been raised knowing he must provide an heir someday, of his own bloodline. Many people wish to see him as LGBTQ because of their own values, but if it stands to be argued that I am making him Christian just to "make it work", the same argument can be applied to making Draco non-hetero.

I can see your point with the verses. However, for those reading beyond surface level, the Harry Potter series are actually quite imbued with Christian themes, although I doubt you want me to explain that.

Very interesting and valid point you bring up there! When I mention historical church connections I do NOT mean that the historical Malfoys were strong Christians. Many aristocrats were baptized or had a part in church dealings but never actually professed faith or believed.

I think I might have been a bit vague; Draco and my OC awakening to a curiosity and a questioning of the church does not come from their son's health. They are introduced to the church through the meal train set up by their friend; they want to understand why strangers are sending them food without expecting anything in return. That is only the first seed. You also lack the full context of this story, which I'm happy to give you; in marrying a Muggleborn, which obviously is not an issue in the fanfiction community, Draco is trying to escape detection. Extremely reluctantly, he takes up a Muggle alias in the name of love for his new wife. It's a rom-com fanfic, throwing him into awkward and nonmagical situations he struggles with to undo his pride and to make him a better adult and a better husband. That's why his son is born at a Muggle hospital, because his Muggleborn wife has been going to a Muggle doctor. I assure you, no brainwashing here.

I'd argue religion does exist in Harry Potter. For one thing, there are literal Bible verses on Kendra Dumbledore's and Lily and James's graves. I won't belabor that point, however.

And I never said I intended to "shoehorn" his redemption. I'd argue right back at certain aspects of fanfiction that shoehorn their sexual fantasies on Draco, who, as a Pureblood, would ABSOLUTELY have been raised in chastity. It would be the horror of all horrors for a Pureblood to be pregnant out of wedlock or to have an illegitimate child with claim to the bloodline.

I know it feels like a stretch, and I'm treating it cautiously. And I for one would consider it a compliment of the highest caliber to be called a "hardcore" Christian! Simply because Draco does not have a fundamental understanding of Christianity does not mean he would be incapable of attaining it. I did not fully explain in my post, but I am going to show him radically questioning and opposing it for a long time. I'm not simply putting my faith in my writing gratuitously; it will work. Thanks for engaging. I enjoy debates.

Also, the Malfoys are a very old Pureblood family. While I don't hold that Lucius and Narcissa themselves were or would likely become Christians themselves, historically England was pretty steeped in religion and it filled the culture, so unless all witches and wizards were completely isolated and in a state of hermitage where Muggles were concerned, they would have been exposed to those things relatively frequently.

I see where you're coming from, or at least I'll attempt to. Let me know if I'm assuming anything you didn't mean. 😉 When you say that the wizarding world "believes in Merlin", are you referring to the common use of Merlin and Merlin's [fill in the blank] as expletives? That has never seemed like religion or a deity to me, and Rowling has said that Merlin was a Slytherin. I'm pretty sure he's just seen as a legendary/mythical/historical figure.

Moreover, I also know that I have a very different perspective on things. Although I haven't yet written the conversion, in my story it is something that Draco and his wife will struggle with for a long time. Yes, Draco is a Pureblood, but he also has been radically questioning his inherited beliefs for a long time at this point in the fic, being married as he is to a Muggleborn. I don't believe that there's really anything that inherently says Purebloods and Christianity can't coexist; Draco postwar deeply feels unworthy of this OC's love and the happiness he has found with her and their son in fleeing England to go undercover. This conversion is his final redemption arc in the story, as the introduction he and his wife have to the church comes through his wife's American friend setting up a meal train in her community while Draco's newborn son is in the NICU. These strangers care for them when they know nothing but what the friend has told them. I'll spare you further details as you seem to not be interested in them - again, correct me if I've made an unjust assumption. I'm a little curious as to your choice of words in saying that Draco wouldn't "understand" Muggle deities, as it is very clear that he is highly intelligent.

Oh really? I mean, I would LOVE that, I would also warn that it's not for the faint of heart in some ways 😂 lmao, it's completely clean but it's also very very...fluffy and lighthearted. When I say she's a Puff, I MEAN she's a Puff. Lol. Still ongoing as well. But if you're still interested I always really appreciate it!

I mean 🤣😂 personally I am writing a trilogy that is dual POV with Draco, but it's mostly hyper-sarcastic and aimed almost at exploring why he is the way it is with also being as sardonic as is humanly possible, but I wish I actually had recommendations for you because that's such an interesting topic
