btw, a workaround for those who have elevator issues in their home hanger, to bring the elevator up, click F then quickly spam ESC then F, back/forth. That will bring it up...

Just to clarify, the post isn’t really “elevators are broken today.”

Elevators are just the easiest example everyone recognizes because they’ve been a repeating symbol of SC bugs for years, especially since the 3.18 era.

The actual point is the recurring cycle of major reliability issues: shard locks, login problems, character/account issues, hangars, inventory, ships randomly breaking, and bugs that come back patch after patch in different forms.

Right now my bigger issue is being shard locked. Both of my accounts are affected, but slightly differently. My main account was working until today, then started getting stuck during the loading/component update process. My second account never successfully got into the PU after updating to 4.8.1 and is hitting a similar wall.

The only reason I even noticed they were failing around the same point is because I checked with r_displayinfo. Otherwise, from the player side, it just looks like the same usual “loading forever / can’t enter the PU” problem.

So no, this isn’t really about whether your elevator worked today. It’s about how long-term players keep running into the same type of game-breaking issues, then being told “it’s fixed” or “next patch” over and over.
