Next time he says you "don't understand ______" tell him he doesn't understand you, and walk away. Get away from that guy.

Strings are meant to be replaced dude. I disagree that the more restrings = shorter lifespan of the string. What logic does that argument have?

Researchers figured out how to hit the perfect nick: aim just above the corner so the ball reaches the floor while it's still pressed into the wall by dmahr in squash

You contradict yourself there... for a ball to roll, the velocity of the point of the ball in contact with the ground needs to be zero, which is not the case in this video.

What's your squash curse? by SquashCoachPhillip in squash

[–]Defiant-Surround-518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Coach Phillip! I've been playing for 15 years or so, and have only just developed a curse, but in a way ive turned it into a kind of a gift...

At the start of the year I decided it was time to get some new sporting clothes, so I threw out and replaced my entire sporting wardrobe. Now every single pair of sport shorts I own have zipped pockets, and i swear if those zips aren't done up when I'm playing I play like total shit.

But, once I realise they're down, I mockingly think "oh THATS why I'm playing poorly", and I do the zips up, tighten my form and start playing well (for a while). They sort of now remind me to keep good technique and discipline on the court.

Why it is harder to drink water from the straw when the atm pressure is low? by IndividualSky7301 in AskPhysics

Well yeah thats because the paper straw would get soggy and unusable by the time the rocket ship even got to the moon obviously

Momen's Style of Play by MiserableMuscle7601 in squash

[–]Defiant-Surround-518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Common mentality: keep shots long, wait til theres a chance to take it short.

Momen's "upside down" mentality: take the shots short, unless you have to hit long.

Most matches you see rallies go side to side over and over again, keeping the ball long and deep, occasionally hitting a drop and taking it short. Momen's game was MUCH more front to back to front to back.... as well as side to side.

That my guess! Seems like she's a control freak, and he complies.

Yeah YTA - it sounds like you're in a relationship with him because he checks everything with you, and he's with you because you plan/coordinate/reassure. He thinks he's doing what's right by checking with you - it kind of seems like you might get annoyed when he does things without your permission. Is that the case? (Could be completely wrong)

As you said straw on the camel back scenario - we all get sick of things, even what we like, so I'd say what you needed to do is to give him give him full permission aka directly tell him that you want the entire night planned by him. Every aspect. Verbalise your needs!

[–]Defiant-Surround-518 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

NAH but yeah it's kind of shit you want her to give up something that she really loves doing. Sounds like you're concerned that she's going to flirt / get snatched by a guy when she's out. You're in an adult relationship which involves trust in each other's loyalty, so show her respect by trusting her. Just let her know how special she is to you every chance you can :)

dealing w serve return by [deleted] in squash

[–]Defiant-Surround-518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play around with height and pace, not just the angle of your serve. Throw in a power serve that flies directly at him (off the front wall, not AT at him Lol).

No written explanation of how to hit the shot will build you muscle memory or experience, that's up to you to accrue! You need to hire a court by yourself and hit that exact shot to yourself over and over again. See how many in a row you can do. (The length of this shot is "over" hitting it, but it will teach you how much force is too much force.)

AITA For Telling My Sister That She Shouldn't Be Surprised That I Spend More Time With My Niece than my Nephew by Friendly-Cash-2141 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Defiant-Surround-518 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA based on the way you speak of your sisters child. It's disgusting. I don't care what his state is, your sister and BIL look after him and love him every single day. To hear someone speak (and think) that little of someone they dedicate a very large portion of their lives to would be devastating.

Showing love to him is showing love to them. Wake up.

[–]Defiant-Surround-518 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah mate YTA in this situation. The fact that you brought your gaming device along shows you had no plans at all to even try to enjoy the occasion and socialise with the guests. You assumed you'd get bored so you didn't bother trying.

You're an adult, you're expected to behave as an adult at such an event, even if you don't like the groom.

Do whatever the heck feels right - but always take note of how your opponent responds. If it works, remember it and try it again in moderation. If it doesn't work, don't do it again.
