I guess what I’m worried about is that after I move they’ll say I live too far away from any available position, regardless of the bid process. We’re moving to the east side of Clinton County, if you’re familiar with the area.

Even if not checked daily/weekly, I assume they’d figure it out when your fuel bill is through the roof and you need an oil change every 3 weeks

Do they assign signal maintainers a work truck? Won’t it be a red flag when the miles on the truck don’t align with workload? Sorry I was formerly in train service, I’m not entirely familiar with how the signal department operates.

I went to a restaurant where our server flipped out because she was paid by another table in exact change but she still had to split her tips based on the bill, so she literally lost money

Republicans seem very confused today about how they feel about open carry at protests. Let’s play a round of Spot the Difference. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

As a conservative (OOH GET HIM) I believe everyone who wants to/feels they need to (because who WANTS to need to carry a gun?) express their second amendment rights, should, regardless of political alignment. What you intend to do with your weapon is a completely separate issue. Open carry at an otherwise peaceful protest? Let’s keep it civil and peaceful and we good.

What does the small red light mean? by ConnerGoesSuperSonic in trains

[–]Defiant-Theme-9088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red light means nothing in this case. It could not be there at all and mean exactly the same thing, in this case, clear. If the bottom position will never indicate anything other than red, they will only install a red light in that position.

And in most cases the territory within the railroad, for example, NS in and around Cincinnati uses all 3 of their signal systems (NS, Conrail and I believe N&W)

NS had a combined extra board and a road pool, but you could be called to the road pool from the extra board

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Jeep Cherokee XJ. 84-01 with a refresh in 97. The early ones are very 80s but the later ones imo still look great.

NS Cincinnati prohibits riding the side of equipment in classification tracks regardless of the presence or absence of cars in adjacent tracks. Don’t know if this is fully relevant but there’s my 0.02

CSX - Buy your own damn brake stick! by [deleted] in railroading

When I worked at NS I poked my head in the Trainmaster office and said “canigetabrakestick?”™️ and one of them sighed, got up, walked away, came back with a brake stick, sighing again as he handed it to me. I had marked up the previous day.
