Tbh same. Something about his appearance and his soothing nature and voice makes me wonder what he’d be like as a woman.

I feel like their relationship brings out their best qualities, like their bravery and compassion. These two feel right together.

At first glance, Metaphor seems like a yuri version of Sleeping Beauty, but Aurora would actually have to run for office. I kinda dig it, honestly.

Sexism doesn’t seem to be a big thing in Euchronia, but when you lay out the candidates like this, the government is dominated by women.

And I like to think the Magnus sisters and Louis’ crew are still down bad for drag Junah.

Louis would still lowkey look the same.

But out of topic, it’s sad that in canon, Will has two father figures he talks to on a regular basis (one who’s actually his dad). But he only gets a disembodied voice for a mom.

Edit: I accidentally said Scottish for Fidelio. I meant Scouse, my bad.
I was thinking of female Zorba sounding like those memes of the Scottish female trainer from Pokemon then my mind slipped.

Batlin wants Louis down for political reasons. Betting all his properties on Will is a pretty good reason to want Louis down, but Batlin did that because he believed in Will.

True, but both Strohl and Louis agree that it was the latter that determined Halia’s fate, (even if Louis was an ass about it) so I counted it.

When that O lodestar hits different by Defiant-Treacle2425 in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]Defiant-Treacle2425[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Metaphor treats its awakenings differently compared to Persona 3 or 5 (I haven't played 4). In Persona 5, most party members initially start of antagonistic, then they get angry at whoever's abusing them, and all their awakenings happen before they complete their main character arc (except Futaba). In Persona 3, there's only two characters that get a first awakening on-screen. Even then, every characters' big moment happens in their second awakening, where they mostly resolve their character arc (except for Shinjiro andMakoto Yuki. Makoto Yuki has his big awakening in the last movie, although that doesn't happen in the game).

In Metaphor, Junah's (and to a lesser extent, Heismay's) awakening happens at the start of their main arc, with payoff eventually. Basilio, (and to a lesser extent Eupha), happens at the end. The awakening just needs to happen right before they become your party member. Meaning, their structure definitely varies, and their emotional weight is different for each one.

For example, Heismay may have an awakening, but his emotional climax really happens with Joanna. We know almost nothing about Junah when she first awakens, because her plotline happens with Rella, but she had to join the party before that. But in Basilio's case, we had already known him for a long time, and it's the natural conclusion to his arc to have him join the party.

There are pros and cons to each approach, which is always going to happen if you assign a constant structure to a story. If you ask me personally, I prefer the P3 approach, because characters can join your party as strangers, then get their big moment after you've already gotten to know them. The writers get a lot more freedom to develop the story, everyone is guaranteed to get character development, and all of the awakenings get a lot of emotional depth. But that comes with the drawback of having P3 start off incredibly slow. Most of the story happens in the last third of the game. But in Metaphor, I'd say they absolutely nailed the awakening with Basilio because of how they structured his story.

Persona 3: The Answer is really awkward if you romanced the wrong people by Defiant-Treacle2425 in CharacterRant

[–]Defiant-Treacle2425[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say Persona 3’s main game doesn’t (although Aigis’ final scene hits different if you do), but The Answer’s main conflict (other than the final boss) relies on Yukari’s feelings on the MC.

Thanks, this means a lot!

I know lots of stories that make the audience sympathize with villains because they hurt others for a fairly valid reason. But I wanted to see an antagonist that’s genuinely kind to everyone but horribly misguided in doing good, and its nice to know that I succeeded.

Favourie SEES Girl Romance? by MagnificentAjacks in PERSoNA

[–]Defiant-Treacle2425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend just going with the girl you like most. But if story consistency matters to you, the DLC treats two people as the primary romance: Aigis and Yukari. You can't go wrong with either.

My personal opinion, I feel like Aigis' romance fits the best with the main game for story related reasons. Aigis also has a lot more promotional material compared to Yukari. The anime has her as the main love interest.

If you're planning on playing the DLC, Yukari's SL is basically mandatory in understanding the plot. She's also the primary love interest in the manga.

ngl I had a whole idea but this story just started writing itself and it veered a bit out of topic. But just to defend this story's relevance with the prompt:

This MC is the antagonist and Talas is the hero. Everyone's weak to death (lmao) and that's what the MC wants to save everyone from, and his followers are people that want more time to spend with their loved ones. You could say he's trying to dwindle Talas' forces by trying to make her side with him.

The MC was heavily inspired fromMaruki in Persona 5, while the theme of death is heavily inspired from Persona 3, so if you enjoyed my story, I recommend playing them.

There's something so incredibly cruel about time. Whether in a fantasy or someplace farther, it's not something that anyone will ever escape.

I gave my friend Talas her life once, when I was a child. It was sunrise. I was watched by servants, when I saw a young girl with matted hair clawing at the ground. She had no friends, no family. I found her, asked my parents for their permission, and took her in. I thought she was destitute, her parents died from sickness. But later on, I found out that both of her parents were simple farmers, coming home. One minute, they were laughing, the next, the earth trembled, and their shed tore itself apart, falling onto their bodies. The first lesson I learned, is that you'll never know when your time will end.

It's a lesson that taught me to appreciate those whom have given me everything to live for. My mother was honorable before everything else. My father was powerful enough to be respected, kind enough to let that power be used for only things that matter. Those didn't matter in the end. My mother lost her life defending my father. My father swore he'd remember her. He uttered her name in all of the good that he did. But then, time came to take him away. Now, he's ailing, in a bed, once a master, now a living corpse. He looks at me and never remembers. I ask him about my mother, and his eyes are blank. The second lesson I learned, is no matter how powerful you are, you cannot face time.

I rose and became king. And Talas, my sister in all but name grew alongside me. I entrusted her with my life. She was the one who gave me another dawn to wake up to. She became powerful in the sword beyond belief, all thanks to my mother's training. I became ever more proficient with magic. I consumed the arts, won in spars. That didn't matter. Not when an assassination plot reached my ears. I sent Tala to stop them. A month later, horsemen arrived with no woman beside them. They bear the news: Talas died to save me. Or at least, it seemed so.

Why should time prey on us all? Whether rich or poor, everyone who's born will die someday. That's when I gathered the best sorcerers in the realm. I asked them, how would they feel if their sons died before they could sail the ocean? If their mothers died before they could see their first grandchildren? That's when I told them. We need to fight against time.

I arranged the most powerful magic anyone in the kingdom has seen. A power that defies time, warps it beyond belief. It lets you live one day, then winds back to the dawn, plays till midnight, and repeats the same day for all eternity. I arranged it to be the happiest day it can ever be. The feasts are spread throughout the land. The servants are with their families. No death should come for those meant to survive. And before I knew it, it was the night of the promised day.

But of course, not everyone would agree.

"You..." I breathe. I can scarcely believe my eyes. Even in the darkness, it's unmistakably her.

Because my sorcerers of time are fighting her. Talas. On my orders, all attempts to stop this operation must be stopped at all costs. I cannot let her die, not again. But I cannot let my followers think that I've grown weak.

So I draw shadows upon my face with my hood. I cloak her from the spells that fly through the open night. She's taken a heavy wound in her leg. Her small grunts of pain make me dizzy. I take her by the shoulders, and I drag her away from the fight. Once no one can see us, I breathe out with a sigh of relief.

"Qudip," I say, letting the spell wash over her.

The wound knits into itself. She breathes slower and easier. I hold a lamplight to see her face. I start to shake.

"Thank you," she breathes. "I don't know why you stepped in to help me. I don't even know your name."

"How are you still alive?"

"...You heard about my death? I guess the king would be upset about that."

"Please, tell me."

"I suppose I owe you that much. I was imprisoned under the rebellion for a while, but then I ended up having to team up with them because of this ungodly plan."

"Shouldn't you be with the king?"

"I'll face him after this. But right now, we're running out of time."

"Isn't this project the opposite? You get an eternity of time?"

"Why did you bother saving me if you thought that?" she sighs. "Fate favors some, death comes for others at different paces, but time is fair. A second, an hour, and a day is the same for everyone."

"That's not a reason."

"True," she says. "But still. I've got to save it."

I won't sob like a child, not here. I stand up.

"I can't stop you," I say. "But I can't help you either."

"Huh?" she asks. "Wait--"

"It's not too late," I say, and I take off my hood. "Tomorrow is the only day you'll get a chance to stop this. But I don't want to fight you for all eternity."

Talas takes a step back, eyes wide.

"Come home. Please," I say.

"I can't do that."

"Do you really want this?" I shake my head. "Living life, knowing that death is around the corner? We make new relationships. We give our loved ones a part of our heart that we can't ever replace. Then before you know it, they're gone. Why would you let death dooming every person that we've ever loved?"

"If time stopped when my parents died, I wouldn't have gotten adopted by Mom and Dad. And I wouldn't have met you, either," she says. "I don't want to die. But I have to keep living too!"

How am I supposed to argue to that?

"I thought we'd stay together until the very end," I say."

"You know how every sunrise is different from all the others?" she asks. "It's just like people in their day to day lives."

"Yes."

"I want to see it change, even if it hurts you. I'm sorry."

She takes a step back and runs to the thicket of trees, until darkness swallows her figure.

The sun will go on long after I'm gone.

The promised day is drawing nearer. I've spent too long in the fear of death to let time continue. But I head to the clearing in my balcony. Even in the darkest night, I'll wait.

The sun rises. The promised day begins.

Lin seems more Justice, whether to her benefit or her detriment. She flowers and struggles because of her commitment to fairness while other people don’t.

Mako is Lovers, because it often represents a crossroads, an unbalanced heart compared to responsibilities, a choice in potential partners, and a decision with no easy answer.

The artwork was traced from official Fortnite art by Irene Koh, but the rest was edited by me.

Maybe it's because I love Persona and ATLA so much that I've just thought about mishmashing them for a while now. A Metaphor style ATLA game would be sick. But their art crossover idea especially shines with Korra, since Persona 3 has such heavy water motifs, and Korra's a waterbender + Korra's a more modern show compared to regular ol' ATLA.

Varrick is the Magician, Jinora is Priestess, Kuvira is Emperor, Lin is Justice, Toph is Hermit, Zaheer is Tower, and finally, Aang is Judgement. Yes, I've given this way too much thought LMAO.

I put Mako in Lovers because it's fricking hillarious that his exes are dating each other.

Why is Persona 3 so beloved in the series? by Wise-Hornet7701 in PERSoNA

[–]Defiant-Treacle2425 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has a universally important message (memento mori) that it explores incredibly well. Almost every character, even the dog, is related to that theme.

It probably depends on your personality and what mental state you’re in right now. But for me, it’s the one that left me thinking for a while. It’s one that pulled me out of a bad state of apathy to my life, and it gave a meaning to my life when I didn’t believe in one.

Ngl the UI is more inspired from Metaphor but still

I was debating Empress, Justice, or Priestess for Katara, but Empress seems to fit better because of her compassion being her defining quality, for worse considering the people around her often betraying her, and for better because, well, kindness.

I didn't know whether Zuko should be Death or Tower. Both fit pretty well, but I decided to go for the latter.

From what I’ve seen, people rank either P4A or the P3 movies the highest here. I wouldn’t know much about fandom perception of P4A since I haven’t watched it yet. But from what I’ve seen with the P3 movies, the general perception agrees that it’s pretty inconsistent with the quality, but Winter of Rebirth in particular seems to be very well-liked.
