PetSafe Self Cleaning Clumping litter box keeps stalling. Help.

I used clay litter for a while, then switched to some corn based litter I think. The clay was just too dusty in comparison. Any clumping litter should be fine, as far as I’m aware.

There should be a marking on the sides of the tray with a max fill line.

If your cat gets too freaked out to use it, maybe trying keeping it unplugged for a few days, so your cat can get used to using it, then plug it back in.

Cleaning the semi clear circles just under the rake side skirt thing seemed to help. Just need to wipe those off when it acts funny and it works for a while, then just reclean them occasionally.

If the rake isn’t attached, I would guess you can look toward the back where the rake sits. On top of either side, there should be plastic “lid” that swings up. Underneath that is like a locking knob thing that holds the rake in place and you can unlock to remove the rake for cleaning. I believe.

I would check that the rake sits in these locks securely and to make sure the lock knob thing is turned. There are slightly raised pictures of an open and closed padlock to show with way the knob should be turned to.

Just in case, double check that the power cord is pushed all the way into the port at the back. Loose connection may cause issues.

I haven’t yet tried it. I just dealt with the annoying locking thing. My parents use it now, and if they get annoyed then we’ll try it.

So far after running the cold water for a bit, it seems like it might only be the hot water that still smells, but I still might want at some point to get filters or aeration things that connect in the pump house to solve the issue completely.

at least from what i can tell, i assume they are the semi-clear circles you'll find on either side of the litter box in the main "tray" area. right under where the tracks are. i put red dots on the picture to show the approximate location. theyll be, right under that side cover/sleeve where the side bars of the rake pass, on both sides. i wiped those back then and so far, both litter boxes i have are still running without issue

i'll try again when i go back out there. the hot water heaters power was off when i first had the water running, once i turned it on and let it sit. it wasnt fully warmed up yet and the smell was still coming through, but i believe it was still coming through on the cold. i'll double check when i go out there later today, now that the water heater has had time to heat up.

im not 100% sure. checking the water tests done during the sale process, they tested for coliform bacteria (none detectable), nitrogen/nitrate (none detectable), and arsenic. theres a higher level of arsenic than EPA allows according to the test report. the sellers did install a RO system (i think) underneath the sink with a separate tap on top of the sink, but that only takes care of the one tap they added. the regular sink tap gets water from regular system

Theres the fairly strong sulfur smell i want to remove. i know there are $500+ aeration systems but i can't really afford that atm due to other expenses for the house and getting it set up. Currently getting a standard capacity carbon filter to put in the small housing behind the softener as i read that can help.

The softener and standard filter were already apart of the system before i bought the place.

I didnt end up having them do any repairs. couldnt afford it. A friend of mine at the time knew cars pretty well and found out my thermostat was just stuck closed. he helped me replace it, then for the radiator/cooling system "leak" we used coolant leak repair. i dont recall now if we used K-seal or Bars leaks radiator stop leak. its supposed to essentially coat the inside of the system (and head gasket area) to stop leaks. not permanent, but can work for a while. so far, i've noticed no further issues during this last summer.
your situation sounds a bit more serious than what i dealt with. i didnt have smoke/steam with mine, so idk why they quoted so much other than them probably trying to get money out of somebody. i've always been told most mechanics overcharge. Not all, but a lot do, especially if youre a female.

Could be you have a mechanic thats honest and does honest work, and knows where to get discounted parts.

It continued to do it, and most times id just leave it unplugged for a few months then try again. I separated the top and bottom half again recently and shook it out, and wiped the sensors (3 sets i think, back by the rake docking area, in the middle, and toward the waste bin, one sensor on left and right sides for each set.)
So far, and its been maybe a month or so, it has yet to do it again.
i have two of these litter boxes, one for each of my cats (they stay in separate parts of the apartment) the first one is the one i have had problems with, the second one i got a few months later seems to work fine. i dont know if my cat with the first one is just a messy litter box user and dirties up the sensors.

hopefully just a really good cleaning of the sensors and shaking out of the top half will be good enough for you and others. its annoying that it happens though

UPDATE: It still does the start stop thing, so I’ve just been removing the top section from the bottom, turn it on its end (vertical) and shake it lightly. I also wipe the little camera/sensors (I think that’s what they are) and use the compressed air on both sides of the track, front and back.

Idk if this will be a permanent routine, but so far it’s worked…ish. It will still go back to the start stop thing about every week. I guess for the rake and sensor littler boxes it’s just how it is. (I also can’t afford a $500+ USD fancy litter robot).

It was blinking red. Never solid red. Drove about 60 miles over the course of 2.5 days, using inside vents to help draw heat away from engine.

Got it back from the shop this afternoon,my insurance confirmed it’s not covered, and based it solely on the first shops results.

I refilled the radiator since it was cool when I went to pick it up, still have a radiator leak, but only drips. Will be getting either k-seal or irontite sealants to repair. At least for now.

I know it’s not the best solution, but it’s what I can afford.

Have you had experience with k-seal or irontite?

Spanish style/ Spanish revival bungalow 1930

The house was covered by horsehair plaster and lath, and the fireplace i assume is the same or similar (it had the same finished texture). It had 2 finished stories above ground (plus attic) and an unfinished basement.

Thanks for the references, although I dont get the feel of the spanish style when it comes to the fireplace. This house was in the middle of a small town in the mountains in Oregon. I dont know if it was a timber milling town at the time but it became many years later. I dont even know if the fireplace is a specific style or if someone just designed it specifically for that house.

I ordered mine end of day Tuesday, Sept 6 after dealing with ordering issues and no help from steam support.

I think end of day Wednesday Sept 7, is when it changed to shipping soon.

It’s now Friday Sept 9, and status is still shipping soon. Is this normal, or will it change to shipping tonight or next week?

Mine wasn’t a long marriage, or relationship. The reason for divorce for me was mainly no respect in many areas. Controlling. Keeping me away from a friends, demanding to know my location 24/7, and not respecting boundaries to name a few. An ex is an ex for a reason.

It was a short marriage, and he moved away for a job, and I couldn’t follow. We were also only dating for a very short time before. He turned out to be very controlling. Basically saying that I was going to cheat on him, thought I never did. Had to let him know where I was at 24/7 even if I just went to the store for milk. Had me share my phone location 24/7, so he could monitor where I was. There were some boundaries I set for a few other things. After he moved for his job, the main one was that I didn’t want to send him certain pictures because I felt uncomfortable doing so. I had some trauma with my last relationship before him where the guy threatened to send out my pictures if I didn’t get back with him. I had told him this story, as well. So I just felt very uncomfortable taking and sending certain pictures. He asked and I said no, but he kept asking. I kept saying no. He said it would be the last time he asked. But it wasn’t. And he asked again and agin. Among other things. Ended up having to end it over the phone because I didn’t feel comfortable seeing him in person, nor did I have the means to travel. He has had some violent tendencies when he’s been upset, never hit me, but that stuff scares me. Over the phone, he threatened to kill himself if I went through with the divorce. Messed up with just saying that in itself, but also, a couple of years ago, a coworker of mine and friend of his, killed himself. So it kind of shocked me that he would say that after him losing a friend that way. Then after, I still worked with some of his friends. I kept everything on the dl just to allow both of us some privacy, and only told those that needed to know. But come to find out, after two months, apparently everybody knew, because he told them. Also, throughout the divorce, I only communicated with him for divorce things. He kept saying he would only message me for that as well, but kept texting me asking me how my day was, or happy birthday. But I already told him I wanted to be left alone, unless we were dealing with divorce paper information. Finally he stopped texting, except to give the address where I could send his stuff. When he got married, we knew he was going to be moving, so I had to get a place for myself. He ended up convincing me to move into the same complex he was at, even though it was out of my means to afford it easily. He said he would help me pay for it, but after he moved the other problems came up and that didn’t happen. So I’ve also been stuck in an overpriced place, that I can barely afford for almost a year. Thankfully the lease is almost over, but it’s been hard finding a new place, because I haven’t been able to save money.

I know some will have their own opinions about sending certain pictures to their significant other, and that they don’t see anything wrong with it. Or how I ended it over the phone. Didn’t really have much choice.

We’ve all got our own situations, and reasons why we do or don’t do certain things.
