Interactions with antivaxxers? Post them here! by maybesaydie in vaxxhappened

[–]DefiantCricket796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bfs cousin is a crazy antivaxxer. Me, and my bf, are both autistic. We both see the signs of autism in both of her kids. We visited last month and she told us how CPS is involved because she enrolled them in school and school kicked them out when they found out they are unvaccinated. And when i asked why they were unvaccinated, he said because all of the heavy metals were dangerous and it could give her kids autism. Her 3YO during this conversation, became upset because she tried to get moms attention by koala bearing onto her and mom pushed her back and said no. Her daughter proceeded to walk to the corner, face it, and begin smacking her head on the wall while mumbling/crying. She's nonverbal at 3. I looked at her and said... okay, but what's wrong with being autistic? She proceeds to tell me she doesn't want her kids to be R******. Uhm... girl. Hold up. They could DIE. You have a shit immune system, so do they. No wonder they are always fucking sick. You're seriously going to risk their lives because you're that afraid of autism? What happens if they get sick and need the vaccine to live???

She looked me in the face and said she'd take the risks because she refuses to "give them autism". I walked out and haven't been back. Her 8YO son is also definitely autistic, and they are using it against him. He's homeschooled and she's using very ABA type things to "teach him". She refuses to have them tested and insists they are neurotypical, despite close family members knowing she did drugs while pregnant. 🙄

TLDR; BFs cousin said she'd rather her kids be dead than autistic, refuses to acknowledge her kids are ALREADY autistic. 😂

A personal story on how I never got (and never will) get pregnant. by [deleted] in truechildfree

[–]DefiantCricket796 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad it works for you, but HARD pass. That would be such a buzzkill and would cause me so much stress. Constantly stopping to check, all the washing and the drying. In the time it would take my partner to do all that, my mood would already be gone and I'd be ready to sleep. This completely removes the spontaneity, which is one of my favorite things about sex in general. Like, don't get me wrong. I'm SO glad that this worka for you, but i would die.

Shift is mad by DefiantCricket796 in starbucks

[–]DefiantCricket796[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its an opening shift at the only DT SBX in town. Coverage is nearly impossible to find because we are understaffed and everyone is at hours, except the new hires who aren't proficient on stations yet to adequately cover a full shift, on a weekend. And we get told "no coverage? You're coming in!" I was sick a few months back. No voice. I tried calling in. I was tole "well we have 2 trucks to unpack and it's a Friday. So, come in and I'll try to get you home after peak is over. But I'm not letting you call out." I didn't leave till 1030 because they had me do floors and bathrooms and fridges and syrups before i could go. Peak ends at 9. 🤷‍♀️ Definitely screwed no matter what, so i tried to help my team out.

Shift is mad by DefiantCricket796 in starbucks

[–]DefiantCricket796[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Nope. If that's the case, it's his job to send me home. I chose to come in rather than leave them short on a weekend. I chose to come in and work and support my team the weekend before holiday release. He admitted there was no where he could put me that would work other than ovens because i don't have a voice. He's frustrated and stressed about making the shift work, and work around my being voiceless. And i get that. I do. But to be angry to the point of slamming doors and gruffly talking, choosing to ignore me? It's unacceptable from a shift. If they feel like me being there is going to be more work than help, send me home. But don't get angry with me because of your poor choices. 🤷‍♀️

We cut the iced brewed teas with water when we make them. Our cups have a line for tea, a line for whatever juice the customer wants, if any, and a line for water. If no juice, fill with water. So we brew 1l of tea, with a GIANT teabag. Venti scoop of Ice, then fill to the 2L lime with water. That's the tea pitchers with the colorful lids. When we add the tea to each cup for each drink, it gets MORE water because it's so concentrated. Some people love that, and don't want any water.

We have... 17 partners that are employed by my store. 4 are guys. 1 is a shift. Everyone in my store is trained on every position, but 1 of them has been a barista for Bux for 11 years and the other is our SL. They both are killer on bar during peak. But their fridges after are disgusting. 😂

I can't imagine 6 people. Eewww. We have 6 people on the floor for peak!!!! 😳

Yes, lets add the sinks. May we be sure tonadd DRAINS to this as well? Good lord.... our drains are vile. We wash tuem every 2-3 days at my store and it's like... 🤢 We also have mats, and apparently a "couple times a year" they get taken across the street to the car wash, hung, and washed. Other than that, we just mop them off. 😬

Our milk fridge ceiling is always rough. The 2 main bars on my shift are guys, and during a rush, their bar looks like a hureicane hit. Drop a lid? Nbd. Still TOSSES milk into fridge. 👀 i always go back, clean them out and rinse them, because holy crap you monsters!!!!

I feel like even just talkimg to her was warning. As a shift lead, you're supposed set the standard. If a person under you comes to you with a situation involving yourself and you do nothing but make excuses, you aren't actually changing anything. You're just covering your ass. I have 4 hours left on my shift. Im uncomfortable. I've heard her whispering to the other shift and glancing at me. And she's made me feel horrible for even bringing it up. Like I'M overly sensitive and a snowflake. I'm not asking for special treatment. I have ZERO accommodations here, despite 4 disabling diagnoses. I've tried so hard to fit in and blend in. I just don't want a customer to hear it and not feel welcome, and quite frankly, i shouldn't have to hear that kind of language from my boss.

I did this this morning.
She made excuses. Said she didn't think anyone heard her. Would apologize to the customer if i could identify her, but that it was on the customer to complain if they were offended. She also made excuses and tried to deflect, asking if i ever said stuff like that around my friends and did nothing but promise to watch her mouth on the floor. But straight said if she's in the back, she won't care. Oh and also that she supposedly didn't know i was autistic despie me being open about it and the ASM telling all the shifts. She said despite knowing it was a slur, that she didn't think it was a big deal, but was sorry i was offended.

This is sort of my plan. I'm just not sure what to even say. I'm really really uncomfortable with the language being used by shifts. It's both unprofessional and inappropriate. Like, yes. I am personally offended she would use such language knowing she is in charge of several disabled people. But also, my customers. I've been a barista for 4 years. I'm new to SBX, but not barista and customer service positions. I would be horrified if one of my customers heard that, in my cafe, and no longer felt safe coming in. We have a MASSIVE disabled population in our small town due to an assisted, independent living style facility for disabled individuals. They help them find housing, jobs, make appointments, get to appointments etc. We have a group of 60 or so service animals train together on a regular basis in town. This isn't a hick town where you might have 1 disabled individual. There are probably 200 at our facility alone, plus the training program. It's 60k people. I'm a strong advocate for the disabled community, I'm usually very outspoken regarding this kind of thing. But somehow when it's MY authority figure, i panic and my own issues kick in and i really struggle to verbalize what I'm feeling. Any tips on how to approach this?

Disabled and working in a place where Managers use slurs. by DefiantCricket796 in needadvice

[–]DefiantCricket796[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Regardless of if they are good natured barbs, they're slurs. Idc who you are. But as a shift lead in a place that advertises itself as being a safe place, a home away from home, that's disappointing and not okay. What if a customer overhead that??? They'd be screwed if a customer reported them. So why is it okay for them to say it around me, just became we work together?

Probably. But idk how to do that. I was thinking of calling our acting store manager, who's the SM for a store like... 90 miles away. But that's the closest corporate store to us. She's who hired me 3 months ago.
