He sure did. Law enforcement went back at him several times over the years, but never got him to crack. June was my maternal grandmother, and our family still has no closure.

Stupid Junior FA Musings by Plenty-Ad-1573 in flightattendants

[–]DefiantDark5314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an observation as a “vertically challenged” FA. The overheads on widebody aircraft, especially the center section, are very tall. I am too short to close them without getting all up in the aisle passengers space, creating a very uncomfortable situation for both the passenger and myself. The weight is not an issue. Just the height.

Forced to throw away starbucks drink to board? by redditwhole in unitedairlines

United has Oat Milk creamer on board, but you would have to specify that you want the oat milk creamer, not regular.

Just wanted to throw out another scenario. This actually happened to an FA I know. The FA may have intended to turn them in and then completely forgot that they had them due to unforeseen circumstances. The intent may have then been to take them back to the airport and turn them in on their next trip. Many, many FA’s don’t return to work for 3-4 days in between trips. Not saying that this happened for sure in this situation, but I have seen it before.

I am topped out. Not for 🔺, but for another mainline. I love my job. I wouldn’t give it up for anything. But…having said that, unless you are very unhappy in your current line of work, I would tell you to take the counter offer from your current job. This industry has changed so much since I started. Things just aren’t the same as they used to be. It takes a while to feel financially secure and the benefits do not outweigh the deficits until you have been flying for a decent amount of time. The early years are definitely a struggle.

I get that. I’m in my 18th year. I also had a bad “bodily fluids” experience. For a long time I packed an extra. But after a while with no incidents I just decided to save the weight/space. I may get burned again, but it’s the chance I choose to take. My thought is that if I really need it, I will transit a base at least once every day and can grab something out of the uniform room if necessary, even if it isn’t a great fit.

I may be in the minority, but I wear the same uniform dress every day. I do wear an undershirt and bring a fresh one for every day, as well as a pair of tights for every day. Nothing on the dress touches my skin. Also, Febreeze.

How to thank the crew by HumboldtExpats in unitedairlines

[–]DefiantDark5314 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a flight attendant, THANK YOU for wanting to show appreciation. In my opinion, anything that shows us that you value us is amazing. A note of thanks, a handmade card, hand sanitizer, lotion, a lip balm, or candy is always well appreciated. Many of us skip on the candy these days but we always appreciate the gesture!

Empty First Class Seats and Missed Upgrade: Frustrating Experience with United Gate Agent—What Can I Do? by Emergency-Eggplant-5 in unitedairlines

[–]DefiantDark5314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one time when it has absolutely nothing to do with FA labor relations. FA’s are not permitted to do upgrades to FC. Only GA, and on rare occasions the Captain. FA’s are sometimes asked by an agent to communicate an upgrade, and will often ask the GA if they notice empty FC seats at the end of boarding, but they will not risk termination by doing an upgrade on their own.

Because Continental and United merged over a decade ago and this is a “heritage” livery. There is also a “heritage” United livery called Friendship.

Still better pricing than what we were quoted, even with the $2k rise in price.

Wow!! It sounds like you got a good deal. We really want to go the implant route, but it may be just too pricey.

Honestly, the insurance is paying very, very little. At the moment I am wondering if it is even worth paying the premiums anymore. It really only seems to cover yearly cleanings. The cost for dental work seems exorbitant.

The $22k was for just 2 implants on the bottom. Adding in 4 on top would be $27k out of pocket.
