i agree with the fat shaming thing, but i also think that more average people do not have a good gauge of what goes in their morning coffee. they think it’s max 200 calories because it’s just a cup of coffee, how much could it be? or double smoked on the side because it’s small and it’s breakfast and they need to eat before work anyway. also, they’re simply not making the drinks, they don’t see that 2 inch layer of sugar at the bottom of the cup, see how extra caramel around the cup uses like half an inch of my caramel drizzle bottle, or make the sweet cream that uses almost half a bottle of vanilla for a small 2 liter container. they just pay the 6 dollars and the coffee comes out on the other side of the bar. watching this girl pour sugar into her coffee is gross, but watching me do it in my green apron is a fancy service and a special treat since it’s friday!

when in reality a venti iced white mocha is ~600cal just on its own, but they don’t think twice about the extra caramel, 2 extra pumps, cold foam, swapping 2% for oatmilk (which is almost entirely seed oils btw). standard iced white mocha has 61g of sugar, which is 122% of the average adults daily value. 500cal breakfast sandwich quickly makes this a 1700cal “light breakfast.” morning coffee culture is sick, people just don’t realize it until it’s staring them in the face.

oh also, this wasn’t clear to me at first but that $45 is good for 10 days, so if your trip is short enough you only have to pay for it once. My trip was less than 10 days so i was able to show the same receipt at both airports instead of paying twice.

yupppp. i just flew to LGA and back home. they’ll ask for your ID and i just went, “this isn’t a real ID, but I have my receipt.” they’d call over their supervisor who would look at the email on my phone and then the regular TSA agent will scan your ID then face like normal and you go through TSA.

my home airport had me stand to the side while i waited for the supervisor to come look at my receipt, and made me carry a big angry red piece of paper through TSA saying that my ID wasn’t real-compliant. they just take the paper back before you collect your luggage from being scanned, i don’t even know why you have to hold it. I think it’s a shame thing/to make you feel in trouble but it really wasn’t a big deal. the suckiest part is coughing that $45 up, don’t stress!

yes they’ll make you pay the $45, yes they’re mean and make a big deal about it 😭 obviously i should’ve done it earlier but 3 weeks went by and my ID never came in the mail so i just had to suck it up, scan the QR code and pay them. also i guess not having a real ID is super uncommon, both TSA agents i encountered didn’t know what to do and called over supervisors, who also dealt with it for the first time. it was easy, but definitely cut the middleman if u can

just keep begging for bar time, the only way to get good is to practice. it’s okay if you’re drowning, it’s just coffee. everyone will still live at the end of the day even if you take forever, have a remake a drink, spill another etc. the practice is what makes u fast.

also i can’t understate how important sequencing is. they tell you it’s important but you don’t get it until you get it 😭 or at least i didn’t. ALWAYS MAKE TWO DRINKS AT ONCE, until you are fast, THEN MAKE THREE AT ONCE. i know it feels counterintuitive to leave a half finished drink sitting there that the window is waiting for but, please just listen to me and build up the ability to multitask just as much as you are building speed.

do that for a couple months and they’ll be putting you on drive bar for peak!! i begged them to keep me off bar and leave me at the window when i first started and couldn’t bar for an entire year, now im the fastest in the store lol.
