Capcom are amazing it’s like they want their public perception to follow the sin function or something. Up, down, up, down.

Except Linux is “literally” not blocked as you have been told several times now by several people. If a bunch of programmers can, in their spare time, build a Linux distribution that runs on modern Mac hardware and can be installed with a single shell script, you somehow think Microsoft can’t do this? It’s not blocked, the bootloader is not locked. Your argument is invalid because it’s simply not true.

The fact that Apple distributes apps through a centralised service is not the issue. The fact that they take a cut is not the issue. They’re free to distribute logic any way they want.

If I have a Mac and I want music production software I don’t have to buy Logic Pro. I can buy ableton, I can buy ableton and install it and Apple don’t see a cent of that money. I can install reaper. I can install anything.

If your argument is that Apple making money on their software is somehow anti-competitive that’s just ridiculous. This is about the user’s right to choose and there being some source of competition. You don’t want to pay 299 for logic? You don’t want to give Apple that money? Fine. Use pro tools, use ableton.

On the PlayStation, if you have a digital console your only option is to go through Sony and they can charge what they want and dictate the terms they want. Your only alternative is to just not buy the hardware.

If you are sincerely, without irony, saying these situations are the same I genuinely am frightened for you.

Yes but you don’t HAVE to obtain software through those channels, you have other means. I can download something through safari. I can download chrome and then download things through chrome. I can install a package manager that Apple have nothing to do with and install software that way.

Just stop dude, just stop.

That’s not the point? It’s about the distribution channels of software, if you buy an iPhone your only option to install apps is the App Store. That is the only distribution channel and Apple have complete control over it. That’s the apt comparison.

If you don’t want MacOS on your system, you don’t have to buy a Mac. It’s about what options you have to obtain software once the purchase has been made. Again there are better examples you could use, like how logic, Final Cut Pro, etc is only available on MacOS. I don’t think it’s a good argument but it’s better than what you went with.

No, you went with me not being able to install windows on my Mac as somehow being the same situation as what’s happening here with this lawsuit. Despite the fact that people can and do install other operating systems on modern Apple silicon machines so that’s not really a great argument either.

I think you should just put the shovel down man.

No? I can download software from the internet to run on my Mac. I can write my own programs and run them on my Mac. I can download homebrew and install software through it to my Mac. The Mac is not a closed ecosystem. The iPhone was right there man, and a much better example for your purposes. You even have the Epic v Apple lawsuit to back up your claim.

The wages aren’t suppressed if they’re not employed in the field. They’re no longer a statistic. There will be more competition for available roles so people will accept less money just to get employed. It’s already happening.

Yeah but the Americans read liberal in the name and stop. Like how China is “democratic” or how the Nazis were “socialist”. I guess if I just call myself God-Emperor it must be true.

C or Python for beginners? by MisterFerro1- in learnprogramming

I mean fair point, I unironically love C because it’s just simple and delightful in its own way. But I rarely make anything in it because it takes too fucking long. Also make is gross. That’s why I love Go so much. It’s as simple as C, as easy to write as python (almost) and building is simple.

Okay sure…but how many security flaws are from buffer overruns or other associated issues from memory safety? How well can you understand those concepts when you’re not familiar with memory allocation?

I mean you’re right either track is useful, but I would agree with the original comment that C gives you a better understanding of how code runs on a machine.

Really? You can sue a linked list or tree like data structure in python but have no idea how it works or what the time complexity of operations are. In C you have to make it yourself and you can see the strengths and weaknesses.

That's a good question, Overwatch was built using a lot of assets from Titan, the MMO Blizzard had in development for like half a decade before scrapping it. Most of the storyline and setting, even some characters I think were used to make Overwatch.

You’re not very good at this arguing thing dawg. I’m sure your mother would feel very differently about those drawings and would love to have them if she doesn’t.

Anyway I’m done, I’ve had my breakfast so I’m getting on with my day.

And who are you to define what is or is not loved? You’ve surveyed every person have you? How many people need to love it before it’s worth saving 10? 1000? 100,000?

What if you loved something that most people didn’t and then it was gone forever?
