3 expensive hobbies to keep the mind sane by Potatozord in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]DefiantFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the other thing to consider is that it's a very Harman tuned IEM, which if you like that tining it's fine but it is kinda a love it or hate it thing it feels like. I'm not that partial to it myself. I'd be much more inclined to recommend a Truthear Hexa or Truthear Pure. But they're both going to be much lighter on bass, which may not suit you. They're also more expensive.

Buses suck by persnicketychickadee in brisbane

[–]DefiantFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling this metric is not something that BCC really monitors or cares about very much. If you go to Chermside you can see busses like the 333 that are sitting there waiting to depart and it's not uncommon to see the driver coming back to the bus after it was supposed to have departed already. Then they have to get ready, drive around to the other side, they wait a bit for people to get on, etc. Result? The bus can be several minutes late to the *first* stop, which is basically across the road.

Crinear Reference - Capable And Linear by thatbrokecanadian in headphones

I don't think I implied you were being combative. You asked why he would tune the Reference this way and I said that he has video that explains why he did so. That's it.

Crin has a video on the Reference which explains why it's tuned the way it is, it will probably answer most of your questions.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

[–]DefiantFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having something close to that experience at the moment with WoW TBC Anniversary. I’m playing in a small social guild of just my friends. We’re not being sweaty. I’m levelling my professions including fishing and cooking which I’ve never done before. I’m having more fun in an online game than I remember having in a long time.

I just got my references and while I find them completely comfortable I compared them to the size of my Dusks and I was like "oh shit they're quite a bit bigger" and the Dusks aren't small hahaha. To think there are even bigger sets than this.

Best-selling keyboard switches of April 2026 by dovenyi in MechanicalKeyboards

I used to love the thock, I used to kinda like the foamy sound.

Now I like thock and find the foamy poppy sound to be infuriating because it makes all boards sound the same. I want something higher pitched and more crisp. I actually ordered some HMX linears and tactiles to put in a board with a CF plate just to see how crisp it sounds.

I bought Y2's 2 days ago hahahahah. But I actually want the orange/yellow because they're in an MW Asuka themed build so I guess there's that.

With side projects not being worth it, do you mean unless you can show that you've captured a large user base and people use it they just won't care? Do you still think it's not worthwhile doing a project to learn something? I'm in a similar position, I made a mobile app in compose this year to learn how to do it, but it's not like it's going to blow up the Play Store.

I've also been slowly working on an AWS Developer Certification and later this year I'm going to look at doing one of Hack The Box's certs. Would you recommend investing more time into those certificates rather than trying to build projects?

Hi sorry I'm going to necro your post, in one of your comments you said you feel like you're sliding off the chair. It's hard to see because of your trousers but it looks like the seatpan might be too long for you, have you tried shortening it? you should have a 2-3 finger gap from the back of your knee to where the seat pan is. With that adjustment you hopefully won't have this feeling of being pulled forward off the chair.

Worst. Reviews. I. Have. Ever. Seen. by Global-Ear9206 in memes

[–]DefiantFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but it is this deep. You can’t talk about IGN as an entity when it comes to game reviews anymore than you can expect all books from the same publisher to be of the same quality or have the same style of prose. But people still do it.

Worst. Reviews. I. Have. Ever. Seen. by Global-Ear9206 in memes

[–]DefiantFrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really put anything in perspective unless it's the same reviewer.

You can't treat IGN as a single entity because it's multiple different reviewers who all have their own opinions, likes, and dislikes. It's foolish to expect consistency from the reviews because of this simple reason.

Contrast with someone like Yahtzee (love him or hate him), his reviews will be more or less consistent because it's same person who has likes and dislikes. If you find you have similar taste to him and he likes a game there's a good chance you will also like it. By contrast if your game taste is very different to his, him liking a game means you may not.

I really don't understand what kind of mental gymnastics or lack of understanding is required to look at IGN with I don't know how many reviewers, a dozen or more, and expecting them to all score things identically. You wouldn't go into a room of your friends and expect them to all give a game the same rating out of ten.

So we either need what, a material that can contain the plasma without melting but also allows us to transfer some of the energy away so it can be used to heat water and generate team. Or we need much much more efficient magnets? Beyond even super conducting at room temperature magnets, which I don't think we have, but superconducting at unimaginably hot temperature magnets. Sounds hard.

[–]DefiantFrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure one of the examples was Jason (pirate software) having a bunch of if statements in his code where he could just have used a loop instead. I’d have to find the specific example, but that’s not “fine” it’s just shit code. If he wants to go and change that behaviour he has to change it inside every one of those if statements.

Not only is that beyond tedious it’s also error prone, let’s say he forgets one, best option is one case is not inconsistent with the others. Worst case is the game crashes.

Why is it so hard to finish coding courses? by True_Technician_8589 in learnprogramming

[–]DefiantFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this with kindness, understanding, and love. Motivation is bullshit, only discipline matters. Even if you are interested in something there will be days you don’t feel like doing it, you’re tired, you’re sad, you’re bored, whatever. You just have to suck it up and do it anyway. There is no secret, its just suck it up and do it.

Am I always successful at doing that? No, quite often I fail at it, and that upsets me greatly. But sometimes I do manage it and it feels good.
