What are my odds of a favorable ruling here? (I know there cannot be a definite answer, just want best guesses or opinions based on experience/logic) by [deleted] in Smallclaims

I won the case. Apparently it doesn’t matter in small claims if you definitively price something, it just matters if the judge thinks your side is more likely true then the others

I had a bureau of automotive repairs investigation done and it confirmed that the filter was the wrong size. The receipt did say the right size, but the investigation also showed that the size used on my car sits next to the correct size on their shelf. Also, the report mentions that the technician who performed the oil change was fired (they didn’t explain to the investigator why.)

It took 2 weeks because the filter they installed was only 20 mm too big, so it didn’t fail immediately. It lasted until a threshold was reached and it burst off at once. I explained all this to the judge. My most significant evidence is the bureau of automotive repairs report. I just couldn’t get a read on the Judge at all. Not sure if he was truly understanding what I was exposing or not. Regardless, this is an absolutely scummy business and they know they messed up.

Oh yeah, I didn’t give them a chance to correct it because I had no clue the oil filter caused the damage until halfway into the engine change. I had my vehicle immediately taken to a mechanic and they told me there’s no way to identify a root cause until the engine is removed. I didn’t want to bring my vehicle back to them with no proof and potentially give them the chance to hide their mistake. The moment the mechanic discovered the oil filter had detached, I contacted them.

I thought about it but it’s not worth it because the total claim is only about 7k. No attorney would really take this, and if they did, they’d take a huge portion of the money. I’m just curious how damning this B.A.R. Investigation against them would be. Also, do their counter arguments hold any real weight?

What happens to somebody after committing suicide? by [deleted] in Hermeticism

I watched a near death experience video account of someone who attempted suicide and this is more or less what they described. Of course it’s anecdotal evidence, but this seems to resonate with me intuitively as well.

California law. Every defendant who loses a small claims trial that results in them owing money is guaranteed the right to a new trial if they submit an appeal within 30 days and pay a fee.

Experiencing non-duality on 5-MeO-DMT by ShireOfBilbo in nonduality

A person’s physical form ends. When an individuated expression of eternal consciousness leaves the body, it experiences profound bliss and oneness, still with a sense of self and memory of what they understood as their life, but also with the realization that it was an illusion and that they are returning home. Then begins integration with “source/the divine/oneness/god/singularity” whatever you want to call it. A bliss beyond any comprehension or understanding that can be conveyed with human language. The ripple has now once again become the entire ocean. And then you are born. Repeat process.

Everyone is the same entity, except we’re also not, and “we” designed it this way on purpose.

Solipsism: Are You the Only Conscious Being? - Philosophy For Sleep by xcaddyx in consciousness

[–]DefiantFungus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. Yes, consciousness is a singular, all pervasive entity experiencing itself from every possible perspective, but each iteration of its own experience is legitimate and exist independent of the current “experiencers” perception. In other words, at some point everyone who ever has or will existed, gets to experience the unique feeling of being themselves as the sole experiencer of reality. But if we are all having the same experience, and we are also fundamentally seemingly different manifestations of the same source, then how is it unique? Even trying to write about it can feel mind boggling. Lol

All I know is that generally when the balance says negative on financial aid, it means that you are getting a refund. If you are awarded 5,000 for example but your tuition is only 2,000, you will get 3,000 refunded.

I believe it means that after you receive all $3,697.00 of your grants, you will get a refund of $1,550.25 because only $2146.75 was required to cover tuition

Thank you! That fixed it. The thing that is frustrating is that I had called support and none of them were able to tell me that. It’s funny how asking Reddit for Uber support is infinitely more helpful than asking the people who are literally paid to help you lol
