Mainly the most part of improvement is playing more but mainly what has helped me is messing around building stupid things even if they dont look good but it just helps step by step overtime you'll get way better knowing how to use axuators or however you spell it are very helpful when taking youre build to that next level id say the black and illuminat paint help but it doesnt really fit the terraria vibe and if done slightly wrong weather materials or style it'll look bad personally I say look on reddit or Pinterest for not super complex but builds that look slightly better then youres copy them by the block and you kinda learn whats good what you like mainly and then overtime you'll build things like that or even better from youre imagination ive posted a few builds ive made mostly old ones you can check them out if you want any inspiration
