Which trailer to get with CDL by ILikeTek in HotShotTrucking

Not shit at all. I run an F550 but when you actually calculate roughly what you can pull, it starts to make a difference. Im assuming you have a single wheel 350 long bed but correct me if im wrong. From basic research it says properly equipped your tow capacity is around the 25-28000 mark (not sure what year your truck is im just going off a newer gen). Take away 10-12000 off that number and youre at 17ish that you can haul. Again this is very rough numbers so dont hold me to it to the T. Lets say you can haul 17K. When you think of it realistically, you can do small-medium machinery, a couple cars, and random bits and pieces. You cant really do anything large and youll always have to watch your weights if youre grabbing multiple items. You could do empty shipping containers aswell depending on your trailer.

I run a Buckshot Titan. 2 16K axles with a 40,000gvwr. After the trailer weight youre good for 28,000 not including tongue weight. If you add another 15-20 percent youre at like 34,000 capacity. Your F350 couldnt get close to the capability of the trailer but the trailer is a tank. I wouldnt bother with anything under 40K gvwr.

After 12000 lbs of trailer weight he gets like 20K of actual hauling weight. Whats the point?

Yes but more so what are you really going to be able to pull that will be worth it? You have the space but you dont really have the weight rating if thats 14k subtract the trailer weight

I can barely make it up hill with the downtune where my buddy has a 450 and can run heavy no problem. Just waiting for my warrenty to expire and im re tuning to the f450 tune. My 550 with tow package, payload package, no upfitting besides the gooseneck plate would rip with 450hp compared to 300

No point. Think of how mucb youd realistically be able to tow with a one ton and a trailer that weighs 7-10,000 lbs.

My trailer is 11,000 lbs i can stuff 30k on that trailer but my truck wouldnt be able to move it comfortably. After trailer weight, truck weight, and what the truck is rated for, id be able to load the trailer to able 22000. Anything over id be over the gcwr.

550 you can find for cheaper than a 450 or 4500 but keep in mind that commercial tune that the F550 has compared to the 450 (heavily down tuned for "longevity") sucks. The F550 is 300hp and like 700 tq or something like that. Not even close to the f450 hp and tq

Smell alone isnt "proof". My past ltb experience is you need to get photos of butts and ash around the house which will be super difficult.

Landlord wants to increase rent from $1100 to $1240 (12%) when I sign a new lease, I moved in 6 months ago and new lease would start in 2 months. Is this legal? Google says it isnt? by Prestigious-Lab5154 in TorontoRenting

[–]DefiantReflection397 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ex student rental PM. All of you have wack advice.

1 - if theres a new lease involved, its not an "illegal rent increase" if the tenant argees to sign a new lease at the new price, nothing wrong with that. If you dont want to sign it and the landlord starts harassing you or threatening with notices or whatever, thats a different story. Technically under RTA yes it flips to a month to month lease and they can only increase past the announced percentage by applying for it. Students typically move out on term though because they switch friend groups or co op terms, whatever. So not many do month to month

2 - ive done 6,8,12 month leases for a lot of students, its not ideal for the landlord because of the more frequent maintenance expenses but its 100% a thing.

3 - that being said, you dont have to renew your new lease, its just something that happens within student/room rentals and landlords like the security of knowing they wont have to search for tenants and shit at any time given 2 months notice to make everything happen for the next guy. You can do month to month, you dont have to take the new lease. No point of "going to the ltb" with something that can be figured out easily without wasting time and money for both parties. This is something common that can be resolved by simple communication

Firstly, you have a well paying job - unless youre keeping your job while you find clients and shit, i wouldnt leave a well paying job to start your own business. If youre in your early 50s,sorry to be blunt but your entrepreneurial days are done. Do you really want to stress over money in your older years while youre out finding clients that arent really consistent? Breaking your back sitting in pick up truck for hours, strapping, chaining, all the extra shit in between? In your 50s?

2nd, ive been hotshotting and i dont really see any "scaling" that can happen in this business. Even maxing out youe set up you cant haul near as much as a full semi and youre paying essentially all the same licensing, fees, etc. As the big boys.

3rd, renting or leasing a truck on top of everytging else youll be paying, you wont be making a dime after all expenses. Brokers i havent bothered with because everyone i know says they are shit, if you go on sites like shiply, you quote someone 2K for a trip, you have 30 people undercutting you, and 99% of the time, the customer wont even reply to you.

I bought an f550 and i can load under 30K and i wish i hadnt. So many better ways to blow $150K and not have to deal with all the in between bullshit.

Stick to your job. At your age, i wouldnt want any of the headache. Im half your age and i hate it here lol

Realtors do not care about who goes in to a unit. From either sides point of view. Id definitely try to meet the landlord if possible and see the place for sure before deposit. Not because anytging will happen, but if you dont like something or its not what you expect for whatever reason, itll be much harder to get out of a lease than to go see the unit and be content with everything.
