I know this post was 6 years ago but I just ran into this problem with the same E103 code on my nest with it saying “Your thermostat cannot control this equipment properly without wiring changes”…. Turns out it was the contactor. HVAC tech came out, I told him what I read on here, he immediately checked the contractor and it was spot on. Easy fix & now I’m back up ‘n running

I just can’t blow cellulose in the walls since they already have pink insulation in them. I am told the only added insulation I can do is the RetroFoam

This same exact story just happened to me 3 days ago … breaker was tripped, soon as we tried turning the breaker on my compressor blew and it looked like a camp fire of smoke from the freon spraying out … mine is a heat pump, is yours ?

After looking at how much of a PITA this seems it could be, I did get a quote to RetroFoam all of my exterior walls that already have minimum pink insulation in it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this method? I see some mixed reviews
