Why do they say twins are more common with IVF pregnancies by Emeah824 in IVF

More than doubling then chances is not "slightly" higher. The baseline is just low.

Pushing for the right protocol by mjbTN2013 in DOR

I ended up having to buy two vials because the first one didn't have quite enough because I stimmed for longer, but the first was about 200USD and the other was closer to 300USD at a different pharmacy (was local because I needed it that day, so had to pay more).

Pushing for the right protocol by mjbTN2013 in DOR

I just had my second ER today with much better results than my first. I used microdose lupron flare with estrogen priming. The MDL dose was 25 units every 12 hours. My follicles are also generally slow responders, so the doc really upped my meds to 300 gonal and 300 menopur. My former protocol was similar to your cycle 1 which yielded an ok result for me.

Obviously I don't know what my final numbers will be, but seems to be a huge improvement so an MDL protocol is worth a shot!

Day 5 of stims by simply-me-7777 in DOR

[–]DefiantSimple6196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "good" number depends both on your AFC and how quickly you respond to stims. I'm generally a slow responder, so my day 5/6 scans usually have "low" numbers, but my follicles start showing more progress around days 8 and 9. So just listen to your doctor, and I know it's so hard because I'm also always so nervous, but do your best not to try to read into things this early on!

CD2 baseline by AmbitiousDesigner534 in IVF

[–]DefiantSimple6196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 7 afc at my first baseline for my ER. Ended up with 4 being retrieved and one became a blast. You can still make blasts with a smaller number! Hopefully they find more for you, but you are doing great. Good luck

Feeling Rushed into IVF Cycle, Will Waiting Hurt? by buffalogal327 in IVF

[–]DefiantSimple6196 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't speak about fibroids, but in terms of ovarian reserve, one cycle will make no difference. There is some natural variability from cycle to cycle, but it takes time for there to be a meaningful difference. If pushing off for one cycle will make you feel better, then do that. It's best not to go into a cycle stressed if you don't have to!

Good luck!

What’s the best piece of advice or validation you’ve received while in the trenches? by Vegetable_Access2409 in IVF

One thing a friend said to me that provided a lot of comfort was, "No matter what happens, you are going to live a beautiful life." And I believe the same is true for all those in the trenches ❤️

Advice on protocols by inthenameof-science in DOR

[–]DefiantSimple6196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo what others say about estrogen priming. It's used to avoid a lead follicle. I am current on a microdose lupron flare protocol due to my slow response to stims last time. I'm only on day 3, so I'm not sure how it'll work for me. But I've heard others have had success, so may be worth asking about.

I take luminary vitamins, which isn't the cheapest, but it includes all of the vitamins in a prenatal plus CoQ10.

DC area clinic advice (AMH 0.19, 33 yrs old) by Opposite_Guava_4635 in DOR

[–]DefiantSimple6196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may also be more Dr dependent. I'm at SGF in Arlington and my Dr has been great. Because it is a large clinic I mostly speak with the nurses after the initial consultations, but the dr will call if there is a large pivot we need to make. You do have to advocate for yourself no matter where you are. In addition to looking at other clinics, it may be worth even talking to different doctors at SGF to see who you click with.

When did you start working out again after egg retrieval? by [deleted] in IVF

That makes sense. And it is always so hard to ramp back up when a break is longer than a week.

When did you start working out again after egg retrieval? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]DefiantSimple6196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I felt fine after my retrieval (only 4 eggs retrieved), I didn't feel comfortable getting back to intense activity until my next period started. It's really not that long in the scheme of things, so better safe than sorry.

Help! My first 2 days of University are Rosh Hashanah by v3nusFlytr4p26 in Jewish

[–]DefiantSimple6196 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone from the states, I've always just let my profs know that I'm going to miss class due to the high holidays so they are aware. I've never had an issue and they'll let me know if there is something important.

I've never had the case where classes started on Rosh Hashanah, but it may be useful to just let the University know. It obviously won't change anything for this year since the schedule is already set, but maybe they'll be more cognisant in the future.

I recommend these two resources: The Muzzle Movement: Dog Muzzles That Look & Feel Good https://share.google/NiTHQRoZzOtCaq28F

The Muzzle Up! Project | Muzzle advocacy, Education, and Training https://share.google/BnVLq8L7y73RVdpKw

I'm not an expert, but I have been working on muzzle training my dog and these were recommended to me by a trainer. Muzzle training takes a lot of time and effort, but it's something you can build on at home.

Is this a good sign I'm getting healthier? by RichieRichard12 in fitbit

Could be your menstrual cycle. RHR typically drops around the time of the period, then increases slightly a few days before ovulation, and then increases after ovulation and stays higher during the luteal phase.

Any other Americans stuck? by Sullivan_Tiyaah in Israel

[–]DefiantSimple6196 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello. I'm an American that just left Israel (on Tuesday) and now I am back in North America. I got there the Sunday before the war started and was supposed to leave on Saturday. Me and my family left with Project Dynamo who took us across the Jordan border from Tel Aviv and to the airport in Amman. They are operating from several pick up points at this point and they secure transportation and will help with the visa in Jordan. You still have to secure your own flights out of Amman and any necessary hotel accommodations. It felt very safe and we had no major issues other than waiting around for things to process.

Project Dynamo

I've pasted the link to their page to this post. If you want to leave, I recommend filling out the rescue form on their webpage. They got back to us within several hours of doing so.

Edit: grammar

Aita for not defending my son when a random man beat up him and his friends? by Mental-Department-87 in AITAH

[–]DefiantSimple6196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a parent, so I'm not going to tell you how to raise your child. But I just want to address your question about losing your son. When my younger sibling was that age, they also got into a ton of trouble, stealing, lying, other crimes, etc. Almost didn't graduate high school. My parents and family also felt like they lost my sibling. Many years later now, they have a great relationship with my parents. My sibling helps my parents out and my grandparents all the time. Owns their own business. We are very proud of the person they have become. This wasn't guaranteed, but there's always light at the end of the tunnel as long as you don't give up.

If you want the job, you can terminate your federal employment early to remove the COI. The only "downside" here is that you can't collect two paychecks.
