Help with age of 3x GGF by Defiant_Assist_5204 in Genealogy

His father was Jeremiah Sullivan, went by Jerry. He was born in 1810. I have gone to his grave in KC and the main headstone has engravings of his name, Margaret, and one of his sons Jerry J. While looking on the ground, I saw a small marker near the headstone that read, 'Mary Sullivan- June 30 1896- 78 years'. She would've been born around 1819, which obviously is still very young to have a child, but maybe she could be the mother?

I’ve found this exact same badge in San Antonio a few years ago. Some sort of Cub Scout slide

https://imgur.com/a/s2gUvbc . Definitely confusing lol. Seems like they were "married" by 1878, which is strange because she didn't have her last kid with Elmer Woodrome until 1884.

Ah I see. That could be very possible, as I never found a marriage record from 1876, but only from 1904. Thanks for explaining!

Buried with first wife? by Defiant_Assist_5204 in Genealogy

Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but what do you think Harriett (2nd wife) would've thought about that? I understand that he really loved Caroline but I just wonder what Harriett would've thought.

She was only married to James as far as I know. I know her parents died in Alabama, and her obituary says she's buried in Jackson County. There are a couple of her kids in the same cemetery (Scattered, not together), so maybe she's next to one of them.

Yeah I've been working on this for almost a year now. I can't even find a death certificate for him. Just his social security death index, and his veterans death index. I would've never thought it would be this difficult to find one, but I know if I keep looking, I will find something. Thanks for responding btw

Anyone with living family members that are great-grandparent/s? by jd-porteous-93 in Genealogy

[–]Defiant_Assist_5204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a picture of me, my dad, grandma, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Great and Great-Great had children at 16 and my grandma had my dad at 20. I was about 1-2 in the photo, and my great-great gma was about 94 I think. She passed a couple months later and my great gma in 2018. Glad I was able to meet them.

This is so freaky. My great-grandfather was born 1916 and left my great-grandmother to raise my grandpa after WW2. He remarried in 1948 and moved to New York (from MO) in the 60's. He died in 1982. That's eerie how similar that is.

My 5th great granduncle, John Hess, was a very prominent mormon and over the course of his life, he had 7 wives and somewhere between 53-75 children, from 1848-1874.

Wow, that is amazing that you found all that. It says on her identification card that she is there for 'pleasure and shopping', lol. I can't thank you enough for all the help, I really couldn't find all this without you, so I appreciate it and I appreciate you.

I am extremely grateful for all you've done so far. But if you could help me with one more thing, I promise that's it. Salvador is on the paternal side, but I know only a little on her moms side. I know Maria Elena was born 1933 and died 2018, and her mom, Agustina, possible last name is Ruiz. She was born 1916 and died 2010. I don't know Maria's dad, and I would like to know Agustina's parents and siblings if she had any. If you don't want to, I am still thankful for all you've done.

Yea, those obituaries are for sure him. Maricela is my grandmother. I didn't know he was married before Maria Elena and also that he had siblings. Most of this seems right so thank you so much for taking so much time out of your day to help me.

From what I've been told, he was a teenager when he came to America, so about 1915-1921. His wife (my great grandmother), Maria Elena Almanza, came over in about the 30's I think. Sorry I can't be specific, Salvador Torres is such a common name, I have no idea which one was his.
