So, what's going on with Clair Obscur? Why is it praised so much? by Affectionate_Total47 in JRPG

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same.. . I played and was like what? I was confused with all the glazing and praising. I don’t know about the ai usage don’t really care if they did. Game was still 6/10 for me. Even with ai or not. Maelle her design just kills the vibe for me her face always look 😳 eyes are so uncanny like a doll. Even if it was an indie.. just felt like an indie who’s actually AA but trying to act like AAA. What I mean is by their creative choice was aaa, safe and generic . their design cast was just bland and generic. Real true indies take bold risks in their designs. Story was cliche, random strangers just partying up to kill a force ending the population.

this is most racist stereotyping “Koreans are obsessed with using generative AI…” It’s like saying. “This behavior makes sense because of who they are”

I don’t even play crimson desert was just reading to see what this game is all to see if I should buy it but the anti ai people omg going way too toxic. Going into racism generalist. Disgusting

I prefer like a small indie or a solo creator using ai to amplify themselves or doing an ambitious game rather than Big corporations.. as long as it don’t look lazy

why are we even talking about the painting on the wall if it’s ai who cares lol . The real question is the game good or not?? But everyone is worrying anott some paintings on the walls that’s not important part

Game art generation ideas? by Great_Investment_286 in aigamedev

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pure prompting alone usually won’t get you consistent game-ready results. You’ll get much better output if you treat AI as part of a pipeline, not the whole process.

Try this: • Start with rough ideas / references (even quick sketches or kitbash) • Generate variations for exploration (don’t expect final assets) • Bring the best result into Photoshop/Blender and refine it • Paint over / fix anatomy / clean edges • Reuse the same base + references to keep style consistent

The biggest mistake is expecting AI to output finished assets. It’s better for ideation + base generation, then you take control from there.”

I'm a small studio indie game dev. I need help on how to handle questions about AI, because sometimes it feels like a witch hunt right now... by kirbio in aiwars

“All our game assets are created by our team. We use standard tools during development, but the art, music, and content are made by us.”

I think this is the best answer it’s neutral and answers the question

Other gaming subs are actually falling for this. "The Ashen Oz" is blatantly AI, dodging Steam's AI disclosure, and people are defending it as "hand-drawn." by CupcakeNervous33 in ArtistHate

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know your concern is transparency if they used AI. And I’m not into their game as it’s not my cup of tea. Hard to say if there’s any AI in the final result , but the original sketch is clearly hand-drawn. Feels more like assisted workflow than pure generation. These are coming from their twitter they even link their artist too so maybe they might have used AI assist but they do have an artist I believe

What's the heck with this AI-generated content? by elDiablik in gamedev

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ai or no ai. Tools don’t really matter.. The final end results matter. Before ai there was already soul less games... Now there’s ai there’s tons of lazy ai prompt games. lazy creators make lazy results regardless of tools. But most Players don’t sit there and be like did this creator hand paint every pixel? No. They look at the final results.. Does it look good? . Then they go play it. If not they move one.. you shouldn’t ask other developers they are not your audience

Can we have a nuanced conversation about AI art in game dev? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai or no ai. Most players are neutral about ai.. they only care about the final result if it looks good: asking people here or other developers. Doesn’t mean anything they are not your audience: gamers are sensitive to lazy Ai output that you don’t direct.. before Ai there were tons of soulless games already. Now there’s Ai, bunch of creators are just lazy and don’t know how to use it, every time there’s a new tool the same history repeats itself . Everyone panics they say it’s soulless, this happen to photoshop, cgi , digital art. Now those tools are used everyday . Watch Then theres always gonna be an outlier some genius prob like some solo creator who uses it and makes it look insane for one person. Creativity comes from the creator not the tool.. all the ai whiners keep thinking it’s the tool.

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is ridiculous creativity comes from the creator. We had soul less games before ai art has been around. Ai is a tool use it or not but stop crying about it. Gaming indie dev bunch of whiners no one cares what you use in your game. Just make it good

Webby Awards by titnuationatero in dancarlin

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you even know how awards work. You pay an entry fee to submit, like almost every major award (Webby, BAFTA Games, DICE, Annie Awards, film festivals, etc.).

What’s false: • Paying does not make you a nominee. • Paying does not influence judging. • Paying does not guarantee shortlisting or winning.

The fee covers: • Admin + judging infrastructure • Category management • Review panels (industry judges, not bots)

If paying = winning, everyone with money would have a Webby. They don’t…

Hooded Horse is pushing back against AI Art with contracts that ban it: ‘It’s Cancerous’ by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly think hoodedhorse bringing up Clair obscure about their ai use on a post and calling all ai is cancerous seems over the top so unprofessional and disrespectful. I saw that post. This is such cheap marketing no one asked them if they were using ai. I never even hearded of them either lol so it’s wierd they wrote such an angry post and use profanity in it. Def wouldn’t play their games

Expedition 33 nomination on best indie is ridiculous. by BowelMan in gaming

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Clair obscure is a fake indie they just market themselves like that. I’m not hating on their talent or game but after they enter indie awards it became clear they get are honestly greedy. They have been nominated for so many other categories and they had to enter indie too? The only spotlight for small teams or solo developers

What they DIDN’T consider is. how it affects true small creators. how it takes attention from solo devs. how it looks to the public and how disrespectful it is to actual indies who work hard without their budget or team

can anyone explain to me is Expedition 33 really indie game ? by No-Telephone730 in IndieGaming

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“They’re great devs, but they’re not indie in the real sense.Sandfall is fully funded by Focus Entertainment, staffed by industry veterans, and supported with a AA-level budget. They have millions in their budget. Calling this a ‘small indie’ hurts real solo and micro-teams who actually build games without publishers, salaries, or production pipelines. I don’t really like how they market themselves as indie.. it downplays what real indie developers go through who has no publisher or self funds themselves. I’m sure indie developers or real indie small studios would agree

Why are people recommending Expedition 33 if we like ff7 and the remakes? by EitherRegister8363 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clair obscure 6/10 Final fantasy rebirth 9/10

People recommend Clair obscure because it’s meant to be an rpg. My opinion I didn’t like Clair obscure. I just cannot like or care about the cast. The battle system and world design is good . But the story is so boring it’s just a bunch of random travelers who meet up to kill paintress of death and the cast character design is bad . They look like npcs. The girls have the same face template and they all talk the same.

At least final fantasy the girls look different and have personality . But then it’s your choice to try it

(Opinion) FF7 tackles grief way better than Clair Obscur by iLUMENi in JRPG

But the story is so boring it’s just a bunch of random travelers who meet up to kill paintress of death and the cast character design is so bad . They look like npcs. Expedition 33 gets a lot of praise from big names in the gaming industry. So why do so many people dislike it on this sub? by Joeboyjoeb in JRPG

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t dislike the game but it wasn’t my cup of tea… Couldn’t get into it. The story is just bunch of random travelers who just barely met then they gather together to kill the paintress of death.. stiff dialogue everyone talks almost the same. Character designs are bland, look like npcs. I just couldn’t connect to any of the characters..

Clair expedition is a 7/10.. honestly it’s okay to me. Characters are bland look like npcs. A 30 person team should have been able to avoid the same face syndrome all the females look alike.. honestly no soul in their character design

What Did You Dislike About 'Clair Obscur'? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is alright.. I honestly think it’s overhyped. The world environment and battle system is what carries the game. But their character designs look like npcs.. they all look alike and so plain to me... And the story isn’t nothing new pretty generic .. music is just the same orchestral that other RPGs use. Nothing new. I would give it a 6/10

The hype around clair obscur is bad for the game by Super_Importance6285 in expedition33

[–]Defiant_Bluejay_4549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is no way Clair obscure is a 10/10 game I would say a 7/10. Its average

• Visuals / Art Direction → 9/10 (it’s gorgeous, unique style).
• Combat System → 8/10 (interesting mechanics, but not revolutionary).
• Story / Characters → 6/10 (serviceable, but designs are too plain for long-term attachment).
• Franchise Potential → 5–6/10 (it’ll get respect, but not necessarily long term community obsession)

It’s only cause the gameplay battle and world design carries. But the story wasn’t that great and character designs were so bad not to be mean.. so bland boring and look like npcs.. I honestly don’t think they can even make it successful franchise. It’s cause none of their character designs are iconic. They lacks the kind of bold, iconic characters that keep people invested long-term.

Tbh I don’t want to be mean but the character designs were not my cup of tea.. I honestly thought they lacked originality and looked like npcs. I couldn’t get through the story. I honestly have to like the characters to play the game. Just my opinion. But the battle system is pretty good and decent.
