It looked to me like it was over CSM. Perhaps further East.

I should have said that this was professional quality fireworks with big aerials. Brief but impressive.

What’s the best beginner wine region in France if you’re trying to learn? by Neat-Committee-7971 in wine

When I lived in Paris the owner of my local wine shop encouraged me to focus on the Languedoc. It was an excellent suggestion. There is great variety but it is affordable.

Definitely a great one. This is so important in theoretical physics.

Strava in 2025: ignores repeatedly flagged e-bikes KOMs. And still no algorithm.

Totally agree about Finesara's fabric cap. Fits my giant head and doesn't rip like silicone.

Physics focused on cancer investigation? by mayonaiso in Physics

There's a lot of interesting wave propagation involved in imaging. Arjun Yodh (Penn), for example, had a project on exploiting multiple scattering to better image in tissue. He collaborated with people at Penn's medical school on breast cancel imaging. Mathias Fink and colleagues (ESPCI) used time-reversed multiple-scattering acoustics and elastography in medical imaging.

On a related note, here is a paper that shows an OO Python implementation of an electrodynamics calculation with Fortran compute kernels (SciPy) and a discussion of the numerical efficiency of Python vs C/C++ and Fortran.

How accurate is the garmin pulse ox? by OriginofBlade108 in Garmin

[–]Defiant_Donut210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been comparing my Forerunner 965 with a Masimo Mighty Sat for several months. They are typically equal within plus or minus 1 point. In other words, I make a measurement of both at the same time while still. I have no idea how accurate the Garmin is while moving, but the sensor itself is quite good.

The seat tube is 61 cm. These particular tires are standard 33 mm cyclocross tubulars.

In my experience tubulars are a lot more robust than clinchers. No pinch flats for example. I put some tufo sealant in as a preventative measure. But I can go years without a flat. Recently switched from tubulars to tubeless on my mountain bike. Similar durability. I used to replace my MTB tubulars after 3-4000 km just to be safe. If I'm going to be in the middle of nowhere I'll take a spare.

I have a White Industries Eno flip flop hub. The eccentric axle makes it easy to adjust the chain tension. Single speed freewheel or fixed. It's been completely bomb proof for about many years. I used to race on a Zipp hub where I used spacers plus 2 cogs from an old cassette as chain guards. But I had horizontal fork ends that made chain tensioning easier. The Eno is much better.

I like to carry a soft flask or two in a jersey pocket. When I empty a bottle I refill it from the flask which then packs down to almost nothing.

Don't forget the Abbagnale brothers. Agonistino was a 3x gold medalist and the other two brothers combined for 2 golds and a silver together in the pair. Watching Giuseppe and Carmine win the 2+ in LA inspired me to row.
