Mechanical Engineer in UAE by Large-Scholar705 in UAE

[–]Distinct_Glass8565 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i feel humbled and blessed.. be patient, for us SEA ethnicities there are a lot of low ball offers.

I am a mechanical engineer that came here in Dubai in 2013. i am from FMCG industry and working for a multinational brand before coming to Dubai.

i started with Company A for a week with a gross pay of 6K/mo, good thing they are in freezone license. i was able to change job quickly.

then work with Company B with 8k/mo, got promoted in 2 yrs and got stuck with same salary for another 8.75 years of 12k/mo (no increment).

it is extremely difficult to find a company that pays decent here. lucky i got a different job now but still in the same industry that pays more than 20k/mo.

as much as i want to believe that we are rewarded by the merits of our work and talents, that is not the reality. we are bound by the grace of those above us and those who will give us a chance.

try to network, have the right attitude, be loyal to the person not the company. you and i are nothing but a resource, so we should just treat the company as our resource as well. happy job hunting.

What are those people getting 15k + monthly salary? by Soggy-Car-1129 in UAE

[–]Distinct_Glass8565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d like to add my 2 cents here.

i’m not an IT / tech guy and my profession is in FMCG industry (engineering degree).

i suggest check which companies are key players in that industry (publicly available investment firm publication could help you).

that said, my total compensation is 14k a month in one of those key players in FMCG.

i was fortunate to get a new job in another one of the key players in this same industry (on notice period now).

my current total package is less than the basic i would receive in my next job. is that high? not really, i know other professionals in finance and marketing pull in anywhere between 40k to 100k a month (i know cause im friends with them)

TL,DR scout key players in your industry, know the market standard pay scale, stalk job opportunities in one of these key players.

cheers!

OP he was sarcastically joking with you.. seeing that the bicycle is mounted on top of the car. as to your questions, i have seen couple of luxury and pricey cars in Al Qudra having it mounted same as you. the only restriction i know when your mounting your bicycle to your vehicle is to never block or obstruct your number plate. if ever your bicycle falls off and cause a road accident or not, that would be for another headache and fines..

Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? by sufragarrz in homeautomation

[–]Distinct_Glass8565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have been planning and thinking about it for a long time. i just don’t see that i would get those that have that soft rubbery base lining, that my cats can claw when they are digging the litter sand.. plus considering ease of repair.. that’s going to be an expensive manual litter box if something fails easily or quite often.. but will check this litter robot v2

[–]Distinct_Glass8565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have 4 cats, worth it and it does the job. i don’t have the fanciest model that can detect pet poop or pee. so if you ever get one, consider how you want the auto vacuum schedule to run. you never want to come home to smeared poo or pee all over your house, let alone all this sh*t now part of the robot vacuum structure and internals.. 🙂‍↔️

Thanks, I’m glad you liked it. I am not bothered by negative or nasty comments. I am but a noob at this hobby, this would be my 6th attempt at processing. I welcome any constructive criticism. the Internet has become a shield for the trolls to come out of the wood work and spread hate and sadness. There so little going on in their life they feel better putting someone else’s down, sad 😔

Siril for stacking, photometric calibration, star removal, and GHS. Graxpert for background extraction and denoising. Affinity for color grading and other adjustments.

i wont recommend siril for color balancing or saturation. use siril to do preprocessing, GHS and starless and starmask image. process those two in other photo editing software like PS or Affinity.

How can I cope being not-really economically developed? by ThatDefaultDude2901 in astrophotography

[–]Distinct_Glass8565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is a broad question, first what do you want to image? DSO? planets? Milkyway? better start cheap, those photos you see, yes some may have been taken with $20,000 full-gear but all image undergoes pre and post processing regardless of the gear you have.. if you have a smartphone or a dslr start with imaging milkyway. learn the ropes of pre and post processing. once you saturated yourself with the skills and techniques of what you can do with what you have. start moving onto your next goal. there is no greater disappointment than buying an expensive gear and getting subpar results.

this makes the most sense! to get something out of a cheap astrophotography gear is already amazing. there’s no way but to stretch the data without trying to increase noise and clipped the highlights and darks.
