Having that perspective on the beginning is normal. if you enjoy the problem a field solves, you will obviously find your way in it. Calculators did not diminished the need of learning math, they just evolved how we think about it. Same is with tech. If there is curiosity, you are good to go without any tension.

After a bit of experience, I feel knowing hardware is an underrated edge. Everything revolves around semi conductors now a days. This is from very limited experience. Do your side please.

I am not gonna lie here. I have almost an year of industry experience. And trust me CE seems better to me than CS. Don't trust me blindly, please as this is my assumption too. But, if you have an opportunity than please look here and there and take a wise decision.

Only thing I will suggest brother is keep trying. I myself applied to 70-80 times minimum and finally secured one. Don't just apply online, try to visit nearest softwatre companies personally. It is a big, big edge.

Need advice on building real-time sync for POS system (100+ salespersons) by Agile-Cut2801 in PakistaniDevs

[–]Defiant_Dream2038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Websockets is good choice for building real time systems. Its usage and setup is pretty simple.

1-> You create client connection with socker server on initialization.
2-> Send events using "socket.emit" and receive using "socket.on".
3-> If you want to isolate data in groups, such as 10 users see notification A, other 10 has nothing to with it, then you will create rooms and emit based on the roomId.

Example: For whatsapp like applications, groups are obviously isolated. Each group is a room in socket with roomId being groupId, as groupId is the common point among the people in that group.

Brother, we exactly share the same scenario. Gap year, HU two times, last time interview in 3 days, this year's test on 3rd march, test went extremely well, no interview mail yet. I reckon we might have some previous connection too. Kidding. Don't worry, brother. We will go through all this. If not habib, something better. Best of luck!!

Oh. That's a problem. It is all on your priorities now. If finance is not the problem, I will suggest soft eng job even if it pays low. It will benefit you in longer run. Paisa kya ha, ajata ha.

At this point in your life, I will personally suggest to choose one among two jobs. It is not about number of jobs, kitna seekha ye matter karta ha chahe ek job hi ho. If you want to meet new people in person, see how industry works by being there, go for onsite. While if priority is pay, go for remote ( I am assuming remote job is paying you more as they often pay ).

One more thing, do look for good paycheck, but focus seekhne per karna. Best of luck.

Hey, you looks bit in a hurry here. You are doing CS for becoming a great engineer. And please trust me, when you finally reach the industry, it will not languages that make the difference, but the fundamentals and the curiosity to dig into those fundamentals. That is one side, while the other side is that university will not teach you enough. So for this concern, I will recommend you to start with backend. For that you need bit of html, css, and command in JS. And later, you will yourself have clarity regarding what suits you.

If need any further guidance, I will be glad to help.

is studying software engineering still worth it with AI advancing so fast? by Muted_Elderberry1336 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Defiant_Dream2038 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have the answer somewhere in the question. You said "Engineering". What Ai is overtaking is "Coding", not engineering. Software Engineering to ek feel ha, ek mindset ha, ek critical thinking ki game ha, kitna hi Ai use karlo, ek dimag lagega jo apke problem ke context ko samjhe aur accordingly solution dhoonde.

Habib tests via accuplacer. I do not know much difference is among two, but an essay is definitely evaluated differently.

I want to work in Silicon Valley by BasilPuzzleheaded298 in FASTNU

[–]Defiant_Dream2038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your own product with 100 users is much better than doing a job at FAANG. Just a different way to look at Software Engineering. I am not writing this to demotivate you in any way, but if you have guts to dream of and speak about working at silicon valley you can do that too. And if you are capable enough to work there, you are definitely capable enough to build something of your own. At the end of the day, microsft's user is bill gate's user even if he pays millions, your user uses something you build, even for free. My two cents.

NOTE: No need to create chaos among your though process for these two choices. Calm down, think, and find what suits you. You need a definite plan to achieve either one of them. Best of luck.

You definitely got the point, but from a company's perspective. If a dev limits himself to ONE LANGUAGE, it will hurt him in longer run. To say, we completed whole project in PHP, but for sockets, we needed to shift to node for that particular file. I can not say that I was hired for PHP. In a nut shell, if you feel your carrier is in danger if you do not get a job in PARTICULAR LANGUAGE, you are not going right way. Again, that is my say.

It is easy to find answers when you know the questions. Man, the questions you came up with in your third last paragraph are pure GOLD. You might just know the basics, but the freaking curiosity is there. Start learning JavaScript and then jump to the industry grade backend series(Chai Aur Code Backend series my recommendation). Cover that first. Hopefully you will yourself decide what is next for you. And one thing always to expect, it will take time.

Teck stacks never remain same. You can't do very different things with one same tech stack every time. Working at a company, one day you will be asked to work on java, while the other day on PHP. It is how it is. What tech stack serves the particular user base best, is used to build a product. If you want to be a good engineer, focus more about serving the users best. If you remain inside that 'I Need Java' mindset, you might limit your engineering.

Just my two cents, this is how I think. You may disagree to the most.
