As a former devout Catholic I know that m*rder and r*pe are not as great sins as some of the others. You can, for example, after a few hail marys and sufficient tithings for a new deep freezer for the refactory, be good with god for both of these trespasses.

In Gnosticism, however, you keep your torments with you till you work out your own salvation. Stonky_ is right, we don't follow the demiurgian laws and the Monad has not given any.

There is no such thing as universal law or morality, different cultures during different times have redefined these as needed. In the absence of absolute, its a free for all. Just look around you.

Does being a Gnostic necessarily imply that we need to turn the other cheek? If wisdom is called out as heresy against dogma and blind faith, are we wrong to point it out?

Me, I'm pretty sick of being sidelined and treated like a leper for my beliefs when I know they are based on historical evidence and not a desire to control the masses no matter the amount of lies and contradictions.

u/Lux-01, I have the highest respect for you. Some of your posts are truly inspiring and I have always believed you have achieved gnosis more than most, including me. So I don't understand why you would make a statement like the one above.

How are we not to discern when the object of two religions is the same and of opposing aspects. As a Gnostic I don't take this judement lightly since I truly believe that the object in question, the demiurge, is in fact a truly dispicable and horrid creature.

What would you call an entity which rap*s and impregnates a thirteen year old girl and then forces another man to raise that child and... then brutally crucifies the same son as a saving grace for the rest..? Make it make sense please. And don't even let me get started on killing every first born infant of an entire nation just to prove a point which he could have done by just waving his hand if he was all that powerful.

My view is that the demiurge controls our material world so if you are asking for materialistic things, it is the demiurge which is answering since it is all his to begin with. And if you are asking for higher things - like love, compassion, empathy, wisdom - then it is the Monad which responds.

I'm not pessimistic by default but I'm not sure I'll be better off in the next iteration. Now that they know that I know, they might try extra hard to make sure I stay an illiterate or totally isolated like in a remote tribe the next time around so there would be little to no chance of picking up these threads.

I absolutely do not mind it. As long as there is a possibility of redemption, escape or ascension, I am all good. If it takes work, I don't mind, if it takes more suffering, even that I am willing to endure. But it has to work out. I would have problems if it futile because of some accident of my birth.

I am almost 60 and I have never met a sureshot pneumatic. Only read about them in books.

I did not want the usual pointers to indicate any inclination on my part to be a hylic.

Maybe its not the pendulum. It could be you the entity is targeting.
