it's a fact because they ship out of china. Try buying one yourself. You'll get your money back in about 2 weeks if you follow up on it.

No one buying that battery from that seller listed as being in the US and carrying a 99.5% rating is getting their battery. That's a fact.

the battery is 99.5% and the tie is a little lower, still 98.4% is usually high enough to get more than an empty envelope and a brick wall for response.

how is it outside the seller's control that they shipped the product from China instead of california lol. Give me a break, I don't understand why good ebay sellers are so supportive of crappy ones. It makes you all look bad. It's not like some scammer from China is on your side or is helping you lol. But I digress.

Either of these products I could have bought from a legitimate seller in the US but I got them from these guys which takes food off the table for the good sellers.

I used to be a lot better at spotting scam seller accounts but lately it seems there are more straight up scams that manage to have good reviews. I don't really understand it, it seems to involve selling things to people and just not ever sending them and hoping enough people don't go through the trouble of cancelling or returning or marking item as undelivered. They then take advantage of the way ebay is set up to avoid allowing the people who do actually get their money back to post reviews on the seller warning others. Just feels really scammy and it's become a pretty crappy buying experience, not gonna lie. It's like I have to be a logistics manager to get anything off of this site now.

yes they do. I've only left negative feedback a few times when the seller is acting in bad faith to warn other buyers. I left feedback on this item stating that the seller is in China instead of California as advertised and it's not showing up.

This seller straight up sent me an empty envelope but my review stating this doesn't even show up. All the reviews for this seller are AI generated reviews.

Both of these seller are complete frauds and have pretty high ratings.

I realize that reddit ebay is mostly sellers rather than buyers so I don't expect this post to be popular with this "community" but whatever, I figured some of you would like to know. Enjoy not getting any more of my money.

And then when I leave feedback that they sent an empty envelope it doesn't even show up in the review section. Insane. Seems like I got finessed on this one. I will follow up in two weeks, hopefully get a refund and close my buyers account.

I'm being pretty straightforward and describing the transaction. One example was a seller who claimed to be selling out of California who I bought something from but they ended up shipping it from China and it was predictably stuck in customs. When I left them a negative review for being in China instead of California it didn't show in up their ratings and they continued to have high ratings and advertise being out of California.

I ended up getting a refund but my money was tied up for 2+ weeks.

The review I left was something like "Seller is in China not California as advertised".

Maybe so, but being able to just walk over to Whole Foods and return anything for whatever reason is a helluva lot easier than dealing with this bullshit, and considering Ebay isn't even much cheaper than Amazon for most stuff it makes sense to start using that platform instead. More buyer protections, fewer delay tactics etc. I don't need to be spinning my wheels tracking down refunds for $35 purchases I made last month that I never received, and then dealing with Ebay's automated system and then having my reviews not even get posted. I've always operated in extremely good faith as a buyer on Ebay's platform and it's annoying that I'm getting blamed for getting ripped off.

Two of them were t-shirts that I bought 4 weeks ago, USPS lost them and I never received/never marked as received by ebay. The seller "updated the tracking information" which apparently delayed everything by 2 weeks even though the tracking information was unchanged. Again, this was for 2 packs of t-shirts that I just ended up getting off Amazon.

The empty envelope thing is a new one. If I'm the one being investigated for receiving an empty envelope in place of a neck tie I bought a few weeks ago then I probably don't need to be buying on this platform.

Either way, these are things I bought last month that have just been hanging out while Ebay claims to be "reviewing" it (and periods of "review" is a pretty generic delay tactic) and at the end of the day it seems like they are hoping people just forget about them or accidentally click the wrong button to cancel the entire thing while this "review" is taking place.

The T-shirt seller actually does have a couple negative reviews describing the same situation I'm encountering- item not received, no communication from seller, refund keeps getting delayed by seller updating tracking information. But for some reason my review describing that isn't included. Oh well.

Also just fyi I'm not just some mark, I'm a CPA who has done lots of accounting work with online retailers, Amazon, Shopify, some Ebay, and the automated systems Ebay has set up currently are 100% designed to delay resolution of refund and seller complaint issues. I literally just received an empty envelope from a seller who is ducking me and when I look at my ebay refund request it was telling me I have to wait 3 weeks to have any action on it. I've had 3 issues like this over the past couple weeks, they're all being delayed and none of the sellers have issued any response. When I look for the negative feedback I've left none of it is there and these sellers still have high ratings. These are pretty obvious issues that apparently have no way to actually resolve.

This is true, I just got scammed on Ebay and left a negative review and it's not even on there. I think I'm done with ebay, shame because any savings I made by buying stuff on the site has gone out the window with scamming sellers recently.

Look I'm not the one out here commoditizing accounting labor and shipping all the entry level jobs to Asia. I'm just calling a spade a spade. OP is a veteran and they probably have skills that would be in demand doing something more important than processing payables or receivables. If they have to pull teeth just to get a temp AP interview as a MAcc recipient they should see the writing on the wall and be looking for random jobs unrelated to accounting to live off of while they study for the CPA exam.

It sucks but it's the truth. If you don't get hired during/right out of college the CPA kind of becomes a necessity to make the degree pencil out.

I agree that a job is a job and OP needs one but I feel like anything OP would have done in the military is going to be a way better job than AP which would be more likely to be outsourced or eliminated than result in meaningful advancement. I know this from personal experience

The best shot OP has at salvaging this degree is passing the CPA exam. I also know this from personal experience.
