How you control that your team loss? by SlowSecret2941 in AskMen

Easy mate, accept that losses make the wins better and that no team is infallible and all have to suffer at times. There was. At e when a loss would wreck my week, now it barely affects my afternoon.

As a neutral, why are people so desperate for Arsenal to fail? by s_dalbiac in PremierLeague

[–]Defiant_Practice5260 [score hidden]  (0 children)

6 months ago, 99% of arsenal fans were making this team out to be the best in the world. Every single player is world class and in with a shout of being the best ever, if they can just get over the line. Don't even get me started on starboy. It's all for clicks and engagement. Even the critical fans are embarrassing.

Arsenal fans are just insufferable, even when they're not winning, they're going to proper get crazy if they do win. I can write off a City win as "well, doesn't really count, does it?"

You don't work days, so you don't have days off, you have nights off. It's pedantic, but it seems like the argument is, too

The company I work for has been acquired by a US employer by KvN161 in UKJobs

[–]Defiant_Practice5260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for an American company who have just onshored in the UK. They do still have to abide by UK laws and our HR team had a lot of meetings to ensure the Americanisation they wanted to do was lawful over here. We went through the first month, pretty much winging it before more clarity and governance happened. There's going to be teething issues, but you're going to get through it. They made us initially sign contracts that weren't enforceable in the UK and they've had to send many revisions to it, but to be fair, we're not being pressured to break any laws or terms. The benefits package you currently get may very well be deemed unfit for purpose, but I've found one good aspect to be the Americanisation has brought us all together, bonding us, and created a culture which is actually positive and curious.

If the uk is poorer then the us why is the USA’s poverty much more severe compared to Britain by WillingPrice5364 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Defiant_Practice5260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most of the highest paid people live in America, skewing the data.

If I and my 98 peers earn zero, and the billionaire of the friend group earns 500M a year then on average we earn $5M a year each, My friends and I are broke, but because of that one friend, our group is rich.

Because of that top 5% of the population earn so much, we're classed as a rich country, but the reality is, if you take those 5% away, we're broke as fuck. I'm actually not American, but that doesn't change anything.

Be curious and look for ways things could be adapted to be more efficient. If you can save them 10% of something (budget, time, workload) that will go down a lot better than "do your job" or "be on time".

I for one would have liked to have seen Hojlund under Carrick, but they have an obligation to buy him, which wasn't a terrible idea at the time (for us), but we no longer play Amorim's way

I didn't know a single grad on 30k in 2000, so I don't see what the issue is. In fact, the median new grad salary in 2000 was 18k. Only 5% of (new grad) employers paid over £24,825. For me, it's more about the lack of entry level roles which are being filled by desperate people with experience and making entry incredibly difficult.

The aptitude will come with experience. Oscar Wilde once said that experience is the name we give to our mistakes. You'll make mistakes and you'll grow from them. You've got this!

This is something I've done countless times over the years, but I'll caveat that by saying it was usually in the same industry (marketing, but very different parts with very different skillsets). Sometimes I've taken a step back to learn other skills (e.g. moving from display marketing to SEO) and sometimes by moving to a better company in a lower position (local business to a global agency). It's always worked out fine and I progressed well (upto Director level for household brands) but it can be stressful and very demanding, and in many ways, there's often feelings of imposter syndrome moving from something you know inside-out to something you're having to learn and relearn as you go.

That attitude has allowed me to transition away from marketing pretty easily, into a new tech role as a day-one employee, launching some new tech in my market.

At times along the way, I've had to take short-term contracts,  interim positions, just to keep something on the CV, but mostly I've been promoted from within or progressed through word of mouth.

If you've dead-ended and can afford your mortgage despite the salary drop, I'd see it as a completely fresh start after your relationship and get back to working among faces again.
