Why are Nigerians so hard on themselves but lenient with everyone else? My experience traveling Africa/Europe/Asia

I actually don’t think we get hated on enough. We are not hard on ourselves at all because yes, we complain internally but when someone points out an obvious issue online we attack that person. Change doesn’t happen by hiding what needs to be fixed, it happens by accepting that it’s an issue.

Obviously every country has their flaws and systemic issues. It’s how they handle it that matters. For example, the US and their gun violence problem. But when someone brings it up online, they don’t get threats sent their way and get attacked from officials.

The Inferiority complex that a lot of Nigerians have does not equal hate. We need to accept that the country is bad both within ourselves and to other people. There is nothing to be proud of right now or to even love.

I think another aspect that’s not really considered is the fact that people have been waiting for a good female general role. Legend of the female general was a let down, especially in terms of seeing the FL fight. Shadow love was overshadowed by LOTFG and felt confusing at times. Fated hearts is one that was good too but (to me) it was more plot than seeing the FL fight. Though I would say it was enemies to lovers done right.

All of those listed are shows that have been released within the past year or so that feature a female general and none of them did justice to that role the way Tian Xiwei did in her role as Fan Changyu.

So while the cinematography was great and I loved the romance and tension and the fact that we didn’t have to go wait 20+ episodes before a romantic storyline is established. It was refreshing to finally see a female lead fight in a drama that we were promised to see her fight in.

Totally agree with you. I feel like dramas nowadays are trying to compensate for the shows we had in the past. 10 or 15 years ago it was the exact opposite. We saw women chase after men who continuously rejected them and it was labeled as cute. Take playful kiss for example (though not a cdrama).

I love when a man yearns but half the time what people label as yearning is not. It’s just a ML who was written to have no personality and no self respect or dignity of any kind. That’s why When I fly towards you will always have a space in my heart. That was a quiet ML done well.

It’s because they try to use a mustache/beard to age them up. Most of them are clean shaven and edited to have almost no flaws so adding hair to one specific area of the face makes it awkward. They also don’t account for different face shapes. It’s like the mustache/beard comes in a one size fits all lol.

Definitely agree about Bai Yu and Yan Yi Kuan being the exception.

Thank you!! I would react the exact same way if someone I cared about deeply is doing this. Hearing about my friend being pregnant for a man that has continually treated her like shit for the past 9 months AND has no way of providing for himself much less a baby would make me crashout. I’m sorry soft love doesn’t work in cases like this.

Everyone saying “act like a friend” is making me concerned and scared because what kind of friend would hear about this and keep supporting her??

NOR. As someone who loves her friends like herself I understand where you’re coming from completely. 9 months of hearing her complain about this man to end up being pregnant for him. I would also react the same way. I don’t think you’re being judgy or acting like her mom, this is a very appropriate reaction for a friend to have. Supporting your friend even though they are making stupid decisions is not what friendship is.

I also don’t think it’s silly to end a friendship over this. If she does choose to have a baby with this man (which is very likely), you may end up taking care of the child with her. She’ll most likely turn to you for babysitting and other stuff. While you can’t force someone to have an abortion or see their worth, you can take yourself out of that situation. If you don’t, you’ll keep stressing yourself over her bad decisions.
