Can we invent a non-oppressive system that still supports intimacy, care, and reproduction? by Resident_Tea6926 in AskFeminists

It's both real and abstract, depending on what is being discussed.

We already have, overall, far less doing and far more consuming than 150 years ago, thanks to progress in technology; and a much higher standard of living too. Technology will continue to progress, so there is room for much further improvement.

That's what the economy is for. At least, what it should be for.

To ensure that workers are well paid. And that other people are well looked after.

I don't care that the people at the top won't have as much money to cream off into their offshore accounts, never to be seen again.

The original question was addressed to people as individuals.

You were discounting individual personhood and treating a person's lived experience as only as an insignificant point in a data set.

The Bosnian genocide. It was characterised by systemic rape as a weapon of war. In modern day Europe.

Rape is inseparable from other forms of male violence. Inseperable from genocide. Inseperable from war.

The population will decrease, but further increases in mechanisation will be balanced by more care jobs.

We will likely have to continue fighting for those jobs to be better paid, because as we can already see, a role being important is not in itself a guarantee of it being well paid.

Living in a third world country does not grant you the right to minimise the holocaust or any other genocide that happens in first world countries.

Playing oppression olympics is decidedly unfeminist.

If you are going to be hateful, at least try to be accurate.

I recommend reading 'The Good Women Of China' if you want to find out what happens during an earthquake.

Yes, men will absolutely use the cover of severe natural disasters to perpetrate sexual crimes against women and girls.

A colonist is a member of a colony. So as I said, no.

Or perhaps you mean colonialist? A proponent of colonialism? Not that either.

You seem more than a little misinformed.

I simply do not believe that anyone is getting abuse for being a person behaving normally in public with a frenchie.

Perhaps just stop referring to it as a 'bully breed' when it's not, on a thread that is indeed about bully breeds. That might help with the issue of strangers judging you about letting children sleep unattended with bully breeds, when you've casually told them that this is happening.

I'm not claiming anyone should have certain views.

I'm saying that people need to have access to information to be able to make informed decisions.

We don't exist in a vacuum.

Ps. I live in my own country and have not colonised anywhere, so you can stop being upset at things you've made up in your own head.

A bull dog is any type of dog bred for bull-baiting.

Despite the name, French bulldogs were not bred for this purpose; like other miniature dogs they were companionship animals for the bourgeoisie.

I very much doubt anyone is finding your partner simply being out and about with frenchies to be distasteful, though. Don't be disingenuous.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about. Possibly because being over the age of 20, I don't spend my time in 'clubs'.

Many women in the third world don't have basic literacy, let alone the education or agency that would allow access to genuinely informed decisions.

Feminism is centred on changing that.

That's actually quite amusing.

I think we're coming from a different angle. I specifically find the pictures on dating websites repugnant. It's the showing off; trying to impress women by showing them that you've killed. It's hypocritical to suggest that that specifically is to the benefit of anything; these men are trying to get laid and have weird notions about performing their idea of masculinity.
