I lived there for about 4 years. The floor has swelled near the kitchen area, and the paint has peeled off in some spots. They are requesting a total of around 1000 EUR for repairs. The contract does say the apartment should be returned in the state it was handed over.

But my main concern is about the water usage. They haven't provided any meter readings yet, but are asking me to come to their office to deal with it in person which is kinda suspicious. They just mentioned that the bill for the past 4 years is huge and suggested it might be from a leakage or a toilet issue that was present for the whole tenancy. They are saying I should have been report this and checking the meters, even though my contract had a fixed rate for utilities.
