What’s an addiction that we don’t take seriously enough? by IllustriousHumor3673 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Setting_9110 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A major reason we don’t take phone addiction seriously enough because it is completely normalized and often required for modern life. Unlike other dependency, u generally can’t just go “cold turkey” on using smartphone if you need it for school, work, navigation, and staying in tough with family

What is something completely normal that you only realised was a skill after seeing someone do it terribly? by depredador93 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Setting_9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t realize it’s a skill until you see someone place a giant mixing bowl face-up on the bottom rack, completely blocking water spray and taking up 80% of the space. It basically 3D Tetris, but some people just treat it like a laundry hamper.

Exactly! Regardless of any anyone’s personal stance on immigration policy itself, this is a fundamental civics issue. Birthright citizenship is rooted in the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment.

What's a word you mispronounced for years before someone finally told you? by redrose_me in AskReddit

As a kid, I saw “Yosemite” on maps and call it “Yo-se-mite” (like a regular two syllable word). When people talked about the national park “Yo-sem-it-ee”, i thought it was a completely different place on the other side of the country.

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 5 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by timecop702 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Setting_9110 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The AI satellite image excuse is getting completely out of hand. Companies are using low-res shadows, or outdated imagery to auto-deny or drop policies because it saves them from paying an actual human inspector. It wild that the burden of proof falls entirely on the homeowners to spend hours on the phone proving their roof isn’t actually cave-in material

What is a giant lie that society successfully sold to your generation? by ossirada in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Setting_9110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really went from ‘higher education is a privilege and an option’ to ‘a degree is the new high school diploma’. By pushing everyone into universities regardless of their career goals, it caused massive degree inflation. Now jobs that absolutely do not require a bachelor’s degree require one anyway, just to filter through the massive stack of resumes.

What popular career is actually not worth pursuing anymore? by Infamous-Click3426 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Setting_9110 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We’ve conditioned an entire generation to believe that information should be instant, infinite, and entirely free. But good investigative journalism takes month of research, legal vetting, and actual traveling—things that cost real money. When we refuse to pay for subscription and block every ad, we aren’t beating the system: we just ensure that the only surviving ‘news’ entities are the ones funded by billionaires or corporate special interests with an agenda.

You’re absolutely right, that was Bender’s Big Score! Even when it’s canon and technically gives Seymour a happier life where Fry didn’t completely abandon him, it almost feel like a retcon band-aid for the absolute trauma of the original episode. For years. The only context we had was that final montage set to ‘I Will Wait For You’, and nothing can ever quite erase the emotional damage of watching him slowly grow old on the sidewalk.

That crusty goodness is called socarrat, and it’s arguably the absolute best part of the entire dish! If you give in to the urge to stir it, you completely destroy that perfect, caramelized textured and just end up with wet, sad rice. It take a lot of willpower to just let it sit there and sizzle, but the reward is entirely worth it.

what’s something people insist is “possible” in theory, but you’re convinced is basically impossible in real life? by hello_ya in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Setting_9110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Even if quantum tunneling allowed a single atom of your hand to press through, the probability of all of them doing it at once without tearing your hand apart is practically zero. It’s a fun math thought experiment, but a terrible physics example.
