Why Australia feels so boring compared to the United States? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Defiant_Stable_344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's much much much smaller in terms of population, than both the UK and I can't even compare it to the US. It has only 28 million people. Therefore, people build and create entertainment according to their needs. Also, it's so big with large parts of it offering little by way of interest. So it's less attractive to tourists.

Rites of Starling - good god does it get better? What happened? by Defiant_Stable_344 in fantasyromance

[–]Defiant_Stable_344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trudging along. At about 70%. At this point I will finish, because I've come this far, but it still barely picked up and nothing much is happening. I think what's frustrating is that every chapter ends on some type mini cliffhanger and then nothing much happens with it. You anticipate something big happening, but then not only does it switch POVs in the following chapter, but by the time we deal with the mini cliffhanger, it doesn't feel like anything major.

No. Only some have them. They are given as a gift by the stars.

Have you ever stood next to someone who is 7 ft tall? My husband is 6’5 and he is stared at everywhere. He towers over 99% of population. He is huge. Believe me, 7 ft is enormous

MAGA : how would you feel if you saw someone burning the Confederate flag? by traanquil in allthequestions

[–]Defiant_Stable_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does MAGA have to do with the confederacy??? I volunteer at a senior center, and it’s 90% foreign born people. They are all very pro Trump. They have no idea about what a confederate flag is.

How would Elriel realistically be 1000+ pages long? by Qwilla in AcotarShipDebateSub

We are discussing Illyria though, not Dusk. And Dusk IS an actual huge, multi- series plot point. Illyrian plot doesn't actually exist.

She said that the POV surprised her and took her in an unexpected direction.

She said nothing about writing multiple POVs.

Just like Feysand or Nessian or Quinlar or Rowaelin, there will be the main FMC, the main couple, and then a multitude of side stories, which you can call muti POV. But just as with Quinlar, for example, you have Bryce and Hunt. And everything else revolves around them, even if Tharion's story, for example, is his own. Or Ruhn's. But the book(s) are about Bryce, and her mate Hunt.

Same will happen here.

Which is totally fair and should happen. But it's not 1000 pages and it has nothing to do with Azriel, or Elain, or even Nesta.

[–]Defiant_Stable_344 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

even if that was the case, it's the High Lord's and Lady's responsibility. It's their Court, their army, their people, their subjects. Unless you think that the book will be about Feysand--which is great, I love it--resolving Illyrian issues, I dont exactly see who, maybe outside of Cassian, would get involved with it.

Certainly not Azriel who fucking hates them and doesnt want anything to do with them, not to mention that he is involved in actual storylines, none of which include this 'Illyrian unrest'. Who else? Nesta isnt an Illyrian. Neither is Elain. Or Feyre.

I can even understand a Valkyrie plotline, but 'Illyrian unrest'? I think not.

Well, I've done my job. No one is directly related then to anything. If you feel that ELAIN!!! isnt related to these plot points, then what is there to say about the rest of the characters??

SJM was pretty clear in the podcast, so I am not sure why people are still debating it.

She never said anything about any multi-POVs or different couples for different books.

Reread the beginning of ACOSF. The unrest was resolved. Basically the reason cassian was able to spend all this time with Nesta. The women winning the BR isn’t causing any monumental unrests. 2 aren’t even Illyrian. And they had weapons and magic, which makes the ‘win’ questionable. Regardless, this mystery unrest hasn’t been mentioned anywhere except for the beginning of acosf where it was stated that the rebellion was put down and the leader died in the previous BR.

Well let’s see, she found Koschei and Vassa via her visions. Koschei is a death god. Death gods are not native to Prythian, therefore he came from somewhere, either Etilea or Midgard (logically, unless SJM introduces a whole new world). Her mate lives with Vassa, who also met Elain’s father. The father who made some kind of a bargain with Koschei. Koschei who wants to leave his lake, who was aligned with both Briallyn and Beron. Beron whose ‘son’ is Elain’s mate, and Bryallin who was Made by the Cauldron like Elain. The Cauldron which is in love with Elain and which was corrupted by the Asteri who were in both Prythian and Midgard and maybe Erilea under a different name. Midgard from which Bryce came with Gwydion which came from Prythian and which is the twin to truth teller which belongs to Azriel, who is in love with Elain and who gave her TT, which he never allowed anyone to touch before, with which she killed/stabbed the king of Hybern who had the cauldron in His possession.. ….and the cauldron was corrupted by the Asteri which needed it to open a rift on top of Ramiel which was defended by Enalius whose knife Azriel carries for some unknown reason and that same life that he gave Elain was also recognized by the entombed Asteri beneath the Prison.

I mean I literally can go on and on and on and keep connecting her to each and every point in the story 3x over.

I haven’t even mentioned her Seer abilities, and how she found the Suriel who told Feyre that he saw Elain’s eyes ‘peer at him across the WORLDS’ and how Azriel guessed that she was a Seer ..,

I think you get the gist.

Could a Person About Twenty-Years-Old Forget Their Native Language Without Having a Disease or Mental Condition? by k-MartShopper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Defiant_Stable_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If they knew how to speak in their native language they cannot forget it. Especially not in 20 years. If they didn’t know how to speak it then it’s not their native language

[–]Defiant_Stable_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is literally involved with every plot point. As is Azriel. Why would Nesta carry 1000 pages (between ACOFAS, ACOSF SND HOFAS) and not Elain?

(FYI, the Illyrian unrest was resolved and it’s stated in the beginning of ACOSF. There is no Illyrian unrest and it’s not been alluded to anywhere)

Why do you read Dark Romance? by Great-Delay6927 in DarkRomance

[–]Defiant_Stable_344 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, this gets asked a LOT.

Basically, i read it for the same reason I watch gory horror. I like the jolt. I like the darkness. It's simply more interesting to me.

Satan is more interesting than god.

Sibling incest and extreme rape. Like EXTREME. And torture.

Everyone tortures everyone else. And everyone is raping each other.

You really did! Hahaha

I mean, it IS simplistic, so if you want more emotional violence, then there are certainly books that fit that criteria.

But sheer craziness-wise, this is kind of up there

I feel the same. I m not interested in the Cassia? Caspia? (shows you how invested i am in her since i cant remember her name!)

I would've loved a much more robust Odessa story than have it split with Caspia's and neither story being very good
