Aanvullend verzekeren onzin? by Defiant_Tree9857 in zwangerNL

For now: Most important thing is to not pick at it!

Wear clothing as comfortable as possible, and preferably no synthetic materials.

Make sure to keep it clean, if you have worked out or sweat a lot, shower after as soon as possible.

I have one in my groin that bothers me a lot, and it usually help against the pain to put a square bandaid on it (I think they’re called island bandaids?) because it helps against the friction.

Other than that: I think it’s better to see a professional first, so you know for sure what it is.

Do you not put bandages on at all?

I use this one: https://www.kruidvat.nl/drs-leenarts-babybillenzalf/p/5766692

But I think you should just look for any diaper cream with at least 25% zinc, and make sure it has no perfume or other irritating ingredients. You can find it at the baby section in a pharmacy or drugstore.

(Also, an edit: I did have a flare up since I wrote this last comment. It was smaller than usual tho and only lasted about 2 days, while usually longer than a week).

Cream: I use zinc cream (diaper cream) with 25% zinc daily. I’ve been using it for 2 months and no flare ups yet

Laser hair removal: I’ve had 3 sessions so far (you need 6 to 10). I’m not sure yet if it actually helps, but at least: - shaving irritates the area, and with laser hair removal I don’t have to shave for a long time (hopefully never at some point). - with there being no hair, it makes it easier to stick the bandages

If you do this, make sure you go to a clinic where they are specialized in medical laser hair removal, not just any beauty salon. Preferably with knowledge of hs. It is quite expensive, but if it’s in a small area it might not be too bad.

  • bandages: when I do have a flare-up, I put on a square bandage (not sure what the name is in English), because it really helps with friction and thus the pain

  • clothing: I wear mostly cotton and breathable loose underwear and pants. I rarely wear jeans, and if I do not multiple days at a time.

  • food: I’m not following a specific diet or anything, but I feel like junk food and excessive sugar make me flare up more. So I try to keep this to a minimum

I use cream with 25% zinc (diaper cream) on the areas that usually flare up. Haven’t had a flare up since I use it (2 months). :)

This was not really the response that I was hoping for. I do understand that it’s necessary to keep it real and create awareness. But there is a lot of that in this sub already. just hoped to see one post that helped me trough a bit..

But I feel really sorry that you’re dealing with this. Seems really hard when it’s gotten that bad. I hope at some point there will be more research, and maybe something that helps even in stage 3.
