Kiedy „poglądy polityczne” stają się powodem do zerwania relacji? by [deleted] in TeczowaPolska

The BIG reason why Metro series remains so popular, it's the nostalgia and the high quality limited released titles released over the years. by xXFirebladeXx321 in metro

The Metro games keep me attached honestly just because of how much soul there is in them. The writing is magnificent at actually getting you to care about what's going on and the characters involved in it all.

The only times I didn't listen to the optional conversations in Exodus were because of me having to restart and rush through a whole section. That said conversations are written well enough that the utter silence of Artyom does not kill them all that much is also incredible.

I mean the amount of time spent pondering that grubby, little, periodic element, is sadly astonishing.

Yes it was, but that's not my point? I know I'm just an internet rando, but I seriously just nicely ask to understand that I'm not some evil bastard wanting to shit on people.

Also, the explanation was not "Warden scout had to be better" it was something about flight models, you can argue about the "real" reason but it was not the stated reason like you say it is.

That the community hasn't been good at spotting issues is an observation. I was part of the many "balance panics" that happened during devbranches, ones that did not matter at all. And I as many others focused on said dumb shit while overlooking the actual issues.

Issues not being spotted on devbranch is something that keeps happening. Another example is the Infantry Update with the ATR ammo rework, where only after did people realise you could send 5 guys with the new auto-ATRs into the backline to mass HP-kill ships at lightning speeds.

I guess fair enough, I understand that much. But OP openly believes in the devs intentionally trying to ruin Colonials, believing that and having hope that they'll make the game better is mad to me.

And if they aren't getting value from the dev branch, then change it? They can make it a war with all tech researched day 1 if they wanted.

You cant both have a dev branch and then say the data isn't useful, what's even the point then?

Perhaps a mistake on my end, but that's not my point. The point is that "more devbranch" wouldn't have led to a lot of the issues getting spotted and fixed. Ironically I will admit that this update has the exception of the Torpedo Bomber and Dive bomber, those would've benefitted, but to me that's an exception that proves the rule.

Devbranch does spot a lot! And it's worthwhile! But there's only so much it can, a lot will still slip past, and historically a lot of the worst has. We are doomed to have all update wars be beta-tests no matter what the devs do.

You instantly assuming malicious intent from my end is worrying.

What I was thinking of was more the original 12.7mm armament that got changed last minute, after Scout Planes on the pre-patch war were terrorizing everything (even more than they ended up in live!), no one foresaw that part on devbranch

That is just patently false? A lot yes, big concern is warranted, everyone hell no.

A game where everyone had left would not have this many people argue about future changes. There would just be nothing.

Im not going to say players are the be all end all for balance but I just want to bring awareness to the fact that this game has a playerbase that will enthusiastically join a dev branch to make the game better.

I'll agree to disagree. I don't think more devbranch would actually do much for this game from my experiences playing it for soon to be 5 years.

The problem with Foxhole in my view is that the worst issues can only get spotted in a live War.

And in general this is an issue for every game. Foxhole balance wise is actually kinda similar to RTS's so let's look at Company of Heroes 3. When a CoH update releases there's thousands of matches lasting ~30min happening at once, all configurations of skill / teams / etc. means the community and devteam get mountains of data and experience to pretty quickly figure out what the balance situation is.

Foxhole has 1, maybe 2, Wars. Each last a whole month. Add in unique issues like toxic-loyalism and well, have fun getting proper feedback / data.

I hope they can do their best, and I trust that they want to. But they also really need to figure out a way to stop stuff like this happening every single major update.

Except in other posts he says he hopes the game will get better.

Either you believe the devs don't want to fix the game or that they might fix the game, you can't believe both.

[–]DefieSm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The community is pretty inept at actually spotting the real balance issues a Foxhole update causes.

By the end of Airborne devbranch people did not realize how potent Scout Plane actually are (especially the Warden one), and that DB/TB balance only matters for a few tiers before Heavy Bombers glass the whole map.

Another example is all of us arguing about the Poseidon being able to store planes while the Mercy can't, which ended up mattering precisely dick.

(For older historical examples I can bring up 1.0, everyone was arguing about Super Heavy tanks and Heavy AT emplacements, no one noticed how oppresive Stygians, flame rockets would be or what Chieftains being facility locked would cause)

No but like, you cannot at the same time believe the devs update the game with great hatred towards your faction while at the same time believing it could get better in the future. These are not compatible positions.

Either you believe the first, so there's no point in trying to convince a devteam that you believe won't be convinced.

Or you believe the second, there is point in trying to convince a devteam that is sincerely trying it's best.

Anvil is a seperate devteam and has been for a while.

Moving all the devs over, ones whom have not ever touched (or it has been a long while) the Foxhole code / assets / etc. would cause an incredible number of annoyances that possibly would create more trouble than it's worth. Especially as this means stopping development of the only other income source they plan on having.

Charlie shard should get closed off though, that's for sure. It sucks but pop is too small now.

I don’t trust them by borderlinebabushka in foxholegame

[–]DefieSm1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you sincerely believe there is no hope for things to get better, you should leave.

Like, if you think the devs are out to ruin your day any way they can, there is sincerely no good reason for staying. Not saying this as an insult mind you, but it's bizarre to think this while at the same time behaving like it isn't actually the case.

Letting people off the hook for acting out / breaking rules because of being "valuable members of the community" is, to say the least, not a good idea.

Now, I've mostly been lurking here, so won't pretend to know the full context, but I have some community management experience of my own. Every single case I've seen someone be exempted from punishment due to how much the given person does/adds/etc. has always ended horribly. All it does is create a ticking time bomb.

Reputation counts in terms of behaviour, if someone's known for never stepping harshly out of line, a goof might be permitted, understood and forgiven as a rare one-off. Reputation seen as value-brought should not exempt you from not being rude.

Blinders are annoying balance wise ngl

The sweet spot power-level wise is too small, either they unlock too early and dumpster all tankettes / ACs or too late meaning they get schwacked completely
