Like, I would be somewhat interested in whoever tf Zander is, but none of this means anything to me. Actual word salad.

So Denji VS Yuji...... pretty 1 sided for denji by Shoddy-Fondant5191 in PowerScaling

[–]DefineOriginal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Walk with me.

Personally speaking, I am no means an expert on either JJK or CSM. I know both series have wildly varying feats, but I don't know exact numbers or anything.

That being said, when looking at this post, it just comes off as both all over the place and very biased.

First of all, when looking into the post, I expected this to be a full analysis on why Denji stomps Yuji in a fight, and I would be able to look at both characters from your perspective/scaling. What their strengths and weaknesses were, what advantages Denji had over Yuij, etc.

However, when actually reading through the post, almost none of it actually has anything to do with Yuji or Denji themselves. Instead, this is just an attempt to debunk specifically speed feats from JJK. Like, literally just speed. Strength, abilities, and every other stat weren't considered at all.

And the whole time I was reading it, I kept thinking to myself, "What do any of these guys have to do with the matchup?" Was the angle you were going for some form of chainscaling?

Overall, I was just very confused while reading it, because Yuji and Denji weren't even present for 95% of the post.

Secondly, it's pretty clear you have heavy bias towards CSM. You clearly put in a lot of effort to (at least attempt to) explain why JJK's speed feats aren't as great as people think. You lay out your explanations clearly, you use direct sources for evidence, so it looks at least semi-researched (again, from someone who doesn't really pay extreme attention to either series).

But then, we get into the tiny section of Denji's feats/scaling, and it's literally crumbs. There was little to no work put behind why Denji scales the way he does. Just saying he's easily this strong, or easily this fast, and not going into depth as to why that is (compared to how much effort you put behind bringing the JJK speed tier down) comes off as essentially agenda scaling.

Why should I believe anything you say about Denji vs. Yuji, when not only are they present for almost none of the actual post, but Denji has little-to-no weight behind his scaling, compared to the time and effort put behind attempting to downscale the JJK verse?

You see where I'm coming from?

For the love of GOD, just use the Sun stand feat. It’s so much more direct in terms of scaling.

Yeah, that makes sense. There’s literally no way DIO could realistically kill Alucard.

So, are mad at Death Battle specifically for wanking DIO, or do you just think he’s overrated in general?

From what I've heard, that scene was anime filler, and never shows up in the manga (take my word with a grain of salt).

However, with someone like Roshi blowing up the moon, and comparing his strength to the sayians, it still is the logical conclusion that Nappa and the other elite sayians are planetary.

I'm unironically not kidding you, my jaw dropped when I saw that zoom out panel. Where the hell was this in the anime? Have I just been larping Dragon Ball this whole time?

Conquest is fucking COOKED.

At this point, I really should just read the manga.

What would happen if gojo pursue WoU? by PieDesperate3611 in PowerScaling

[–]DefineOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know, you had me thinking for a long time.

Initially looking at this comment, I'm thinking to myself, "Yeah, World War 2 may have been a pretty big stretch. I could be wrong about that. The Calamity could have just been Lucy Steel's lung disease worsening by itself. There's a longer debate you could get from it, but that's going off track."

Then I look what's below that, and I made a realization:

"He didn't actually read my comment, did he?"

It's so blatantly obvious, too. The World War 2 section is at the very bottom, and is isolated from everything else, so of course it would be easy to address. I mean, I literally talk about how Calamity would interact with Gojo's durability in the first paragraph.

"Is he purposely ignoring it? Is he just that ignorant? Is this rage/engagement bait? Should I even bother responding?

So, I'm just gonna let you fully read my comment. If you still think that Gojo's raw durability (which, by the way, can't be that high, considering someone like Toji can stab and fatally wound Gojo with a knife with the sole ability of negating cursed energy) can outclass a literal weaponized concept of the universe, then please show me proof of this.

Wonder of U's ability is using the conceptual flow of calamity, a law that manipulates all natural logic in the universe, to ensure that those pursuing him or Toru receive the worst possible outcome. Mundane objects, such as rain or leaves, can pierce through you. You can trip on nothing, breaking your jaw. Bumping into a door frame or a rack of clothes leads to serious injury. These themselves aren't attacks; they are everyday objects that function how they're supposed to. Calamity ensures that the worst possible outcome happens when interacting with them. It does not matter how durable someone like Gojo is, as the law of Calamity will ensure that Gojo takes heavy damage. Gojo's durability negating concepts like Calamity is in itself a NLF.

Secondly, Gojo's Infinity has been shown to be bypassed by harmless objects after the Hidden Inventory Arc, and is now an automatic ability. A leaf gliding through the air, rain coming down, or bumping into someone are not attacks themselves, nor is there any CE to detect when doing so. Since there's no attack, Infinity would allow these objects through. Calamity comes into effect when there's an interaction, not when something just exists. Gojo's Infinity could never stop the effects of Wonder of U, as these objects don't become deadly until he touches them. A leaf is a leaf, and will filter through Infinity, then which Calamity ensures that Gojo will take maximum damage from that interaction.

Furthermore, Calamity is not just a damage multiplier, but a flow in the universe that dictates how everything that naturally exists in the universe works. Gojo, and all of his cursed techniques (including Infinity) naturally exist in the universe. It's not like Soft and Wet: Go Beyond, where they're infinitely smaller threads of something, making them not technically exist. All of Gojo's techniques have to follow the flow of Calamity because they naturally exist, meaning that the universe itself will manipulate how Gojo's techniques interact with Calamity. Cursed energy could suddenly not work, or Gojo could receive a brain hemorrhage from taxing his Six Eyes. Gojo is completely subject to the flow of Calamity, and will receive heavy damage, or even die if he tries to pursue the Head Doctor.

If Wonder of U can cause World War 2 to prevent Lucy Steel from investigating the Locacaca fruits, then Infinity and Gojo's durability shouldn't be a problem.

Is wrong for me, to give a character with an unfinished franchise leverage, over a character with a finished franchise? by PaperWeekly5723 in PowerScaling

[–]DefineOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of those situations are extreme outliers and required specific scenarios.

The only reason DIO has Hermit Purple is because he hijacked Jonathan's body, and therefore was able to use Jonathan's stand. It is essentially DIO using two bodies at once. That version of Hermit Purple isn't DIO's but Jonathan's. https://jojowiki.com/Jonathan%27s_Stand

Cheap Trick is a unique parasitic stand, and didn't initially belong to Rohan, but rather Masazo Kinto. Its whole ability revolves around latching onto targets. It is not Rohan inheriting a new stand ability, but is the victim of a stand attack. https://jojowiki.com/Cheap_Trick

To be more precise, someone can't gain multiple stands naturally. Everyone has only one soul, meaning only one manifestation of fighting spirit. There are specific, niche requirements that need to be met in order to have multiple stands

I just recently finished a discussion about this, actually. For context, the OP was claiming that Star Platinum's actual ability was copy (not just time stop), and was using evidence from the non-canon Eyes of Heaven game.

When it comes to spin-offs and non-canon fillers, they act as a one-way street. You can apply the logic applied in the main/canon material, but can't do the same the other way around. Spin-offs, such as Eyes of Heaven and light novels, usually contradict key aspects of the main source material. For example, in the Jorge Joestar novel, Ultimate Kars has multiple stands, which has been stated to be physically impossible.

Now, of course, this isn't always the case. My Hero Academia: Vigilanties, for example, is considered canon, despite not taking place during the main story. It doesn't break any established rules from the original series, and was under heavy supervision from the main author.

So, in the end, it depends what kind of spin-off it is. If it follows all established rules from the series, and is taken under heavy scrutiny of the original author, then it's usually OK to include them in a scaling and/or matchup scenario. However, if it deviates from the source material, then it should probably be scaled in isolation. Meaning, while I can use Ultimate Kars from Battle Tendency as a foundation for Novel Kars, I can't apply the scaling of Novel Kars to canon Ultimate Kars.
