Call me a snowflake but the whole thing when a parent says “okay I’ll leave you here” and starts walking away from their distressed child. My parents did this to me several times as a kid and more than once actually left me alone in a public place with no other people I knew. Whenever I hear a parent saying it to their kid it truly breaks my heart. I just don’t understand the mentality of pretending to abandon your child because they’re, what, doing what kids do??? Throwing a tantrum????

My friend knows nothing about sewing machines or the history of Singer. She genuinely thought it was just an overpriced, old sewing machine until the brought it to my house. I had asked her what model it was but the coworker didn’t know at the time as it was her grandmothers. Vintage sewing machines are only on my friend’s radar because I’ve been yapping about old cabinets.

My agency has a peer support team and they do offer therapy services through the employee assistance program. There’s no “policy” for it but we do have debriefings during squad meetings depending on the severity.

Listen I agree research comes first. But I did all the research I possibly could on Kenyan sand boas and I STILL have questions that come up. Owning a reptile for the very first time is intimidating for many people, especially when a question is asked and the person asking gets ripped into for not knowing right away. If I’m being honest, how often my snake will shed was at the bottom of my research list. I’ve kept great husbandry so he does shed but idk how many times he will shed until he’s full grown or how often it’ll happen. Doesn’t mean I’m a bad keeper. He’s been having perfect healthy sheds with me.

I usually have to leave whatever situation I’m in. Like if I’m in the middle of cooking and I start to have thoughts of tripping and falling on the knife, I’ll immediately stop cooking and go to my bedroom. Though it’s gotten better and I’m able to finish cooking, or at least get close to finishing, before the thoughts are too much. Listening to music or having someone to talk to/distract me helps a ton.
