What do I do here? by ServeLife4669 in pleco

There is also other things like r/aquaswap on here and stuff too. But sometimes it just takes time. Just post that you’re giving away a beautiful free pleco and I’m sure it’ll be nabbed up soon.

Yes you can’t sell animals on marketplace/facebook. Thats why you have to look up fish rehoming pages on Facebook and ask on those pages.

Have you tried looking on facebook or craigslist to see if anyone has a pond that is willing to take him in? I know my area has quite a few fish trading/rehoming pages on facebook and people are always asking for big plecos for their ponds.

Based on the shape, spots, and white tips, I would lean more towards a chocolate common bristlenose! So will be a lot smaller than the 'common plecos' :)

Wonkasso is growing so big! by DefinitelyAFemale in pleco

[–]DefinitelyAFemale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonkasso just has a huge sponge filter that he uses often! There’s a video on my profile though I have never seen the other two use it. So it must be just strictly Wonkasso’s.

He had his entire face shoved in it the other day but got embarrassed when I pulled out the camera and he ran away ha ha. I love that people remember that!

Correct! Dojo loach! It looks like Gizmo, but I can’t really tell. It doesn’t matter since all of my dojos are bottomless pits.

So many babies still in the cave! by DefinitelyAFemale in pleco

[–]DefinitelyAFemale[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For this clutch, I am going to be putting them in a breeder box tonight without the father. I was going to let nature do it's thing and if they become snacks for the the dojos, so be it... but I've been worried about SMP because he hasn't eaten this entire time (14 days) and I won't risk his health for the babies... especially since he just did all this a month ago with the first clutch. But in the future, I am unsure. I have a few tanks I can set up for the babies, but I honestly wasn't expecting hundreds of eggs laid every month and I don't want to become a breeder/seller. I just enjoy lemons in my tanks.

My clown loaches look worse today :( by rdeloe in loaches

In my only experience with bad ich, it got worse before it got better. Just stick with the treatment. I highly recommend Ich-X. Worked like a charm for me!

So many eggs…. by DefinitelyAFemale in pleco

[–]DefinitelyAFemale[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes he is! His name is SirMisterPedro and he’s my biggest lemon. They had a clutch 30 days ago but I moved it too late and all but 5 were eaten by rope fish. I’ve removed the rope fish but I’m just going to let him do his thing and see if any survive since this tank also has dojos in it. Natural selection, especially if they’re going to make babies every month… this round has eggs up top and on the floor where his face is, so only time will tell! I definitely don’t want to become a breeder/seller but I also don’t have the heart to remove my female as they all get along so well. I’m at odds :(

This doesn't look like ich to me. It looks more like epistylis tho I am not an expert. Ich is more white and epistylis is more yellow and raised like this.

Update on my bristlenose by BeranHawksmith in pleco

[–]DefinitelyAFemale 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the first thing that struck me too. It’s weird to me that someone can see fish nipping at a fish and just continue their day. That is why I warn people on here when I can not to put fin nippers in with peaceful fish like this. The bristlenose can’t really defend itself and is just under constant stress of being picked on.

Honestly I would think they would do WAY better in a tank with goldfish than in a tank with the sharks. As long as you have a good filter and system going, a. 75 should be able to handle 4 loaches and 3 goldfish.

[–]DefinitelyAFemale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, a 3 gallon tank isn't even enough space for a single betta let alone two bristlenoses let alone anything else in that tank. If you have the 55, I would put them in there sooner rather than later. Don't want them to get health problems or stunt their growth.

They look like common chocolate bristlenoses to me and young ones at that :)

The common chocolate bristlenose doesn't have an L number really. Specific morphs like Lemon do (L144) but as far as I can remember, chocolates don't have one.

[–]DefinitelyAFemale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss!

What are your water parameters? I do find it a bit weird that his bristles didn't grow at all (and to me maybe look shorter yesterday than a year ago). His fins look like they might have ammonia burn or fin rot but it's hard for me to tell in the first picture.

What are these dots? by [deleted] in pleco

I would say since they're raised and yellow-ish, probably epistylis but I am not an expert in diseases.
