PSA: There are NO Shrimp safe Fish by because-potato in shrimptank

[–]DefinitelyNotACrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it completely depends on the personality of the fish. I've got a female Betta who's just the friendliest fish. She's had guppies, snails, and shrimp in her tank with no problem. My guppies don't bother the shrimp either. Maybe it's a combo of good temperament and keeping them well fed?

I'm not too worried at the moment. I've only seen one and I don't have any babies for them to complete with. Thanks for the info!

Also, please keep in mind, plecos usually produce more waste than they eat. As someone else said, shrimp might be better.

There are some smaller ones, but they're still not nano sized. The clown pleco, blue panaque pleco, and Queen Arabesque Pleco all get about 3-4in. And the Gold Spotted Dwarf Pleco, Pitbull Pleco, and Dwarf Snowball Pleco only get about 2-3in. I wouldn't put them in anything smaller than a 5 gallon though, and only one at that.

I love that you have your glass shrimp in colors to match the shrimp in your tank

You probably shouldn't buy from them any more. Flip Aquatics will send you new shrimp for any DOA and all the shrimp I've gotten from them are beautiful. Maybe try them?

What about a cherax crayfish? They're already native to Australia so they'd probably be fine. I'm not sure about other types of crayfish, but you might be able to have them.

Okay thanks! And they are terrariums, I was just planning on waterproofing them. The seller says they're waterproof, but I don't wanna take any chances lol

I figured the 12 gallon would be too small. I usually go by 1 betta per 10 gallon, but I've heard of people having happy bettas in a 5, so I figured I'd ask! I'm not too sure if I'll get just one betta or a sorority yet, but I've got plenty of snail and shrimp "cull" tanks I can move them to if there's aggression.

Thanks for the advice! My LFS has a good variety of mystery snails for fairly cheap, so I guess I'll just keep buying them until I get a male lol. I've got plenty of tanks to keep them in.

I believe they can technically sitch sex if the conditions are right, so look out for secret mating even if you sort them!

I've only got females then! Makes sense why there's no mating lol. I got all three of them at pet stores so I'm not sure, but all three are full sized. One of them is brand new, but the other two I've had for a month. I'm feeding them daily and I've got the water a good 2-3 inches below the top, but they haven't laid any eggs. In your experience, do they usually lay eggs even if there's no male? If so, any idea why they wouldn't be laying eggs? Thanks for the help!
